On September 9, 2024, 88 Films is releasing a 4K Ultra HD for Tai Chi Master, a 1993 Hong Kong martial arts classic from director Yuen Woo-ping (In the Line of Duty 4) and stars Jet Li (League of Gods) and Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once).

Two friends, ex Shaolin monks, part ways as they brush with the ongoing rebellion against the government. The ambitious one rises up to be a powerful military commander, while his betrayed friend resorts to learn the calm ways of Tai Chi.

This title will soon be available at The Goodie Emporium, a U.S.-based online store that currently has many Import Shaw Brothers/Golden Harvest/martial arts DVD/Blu-ray movies in-stock – with New titles being added regularly!

Details for this release should be announced soon! Until then, watch the film’s U.S. Trailer below:

  1. Andrew Hernandez says:

I’m tempted to call this my favorite Jet Li movie not just because the action is great, but because it tells a good story about friends coming together to overthrow an evil regime while also dealing with best friends dealing with betrayal and greed.

I guess I don’t need the shitty release that Brett Ratner poisons in the special features.

    • Ska Martes says:

If the Fist of Legend release is anything to go by, talentless creepy Ratner will defintely show up in this release. Shame cos the actual movie itself will look great (probably) and be the actual HK version.

Now waiting for the eventual release of Fong Sai Yuk 1 and 2 without all the cuts Weinstein made. The last uncut copy I think was a crappy Universe DVD back in the late 90s!!!!

  2. Typo says:

2009 French DVDs (HK VIDEO) for Fong Sai-yuk I & 2 are totally uncut.

  3. Eric says:

Wake me up when they’ll release Born To Defence (yes, with a c !).
