Thunderstruck Cop (2025) Review
Director: Kim Young-jun Cast: Kim Soo-mi, Shin Hyun-jun, Chae Si-yeon, Jung Jun-ho, Jo Won Hee, Kim Heung Kook Running Time: 107 min. By Paul Bramhall Being a fan of Korean cinema since the early 2000’s, one of the unique quirks of the countries film industry is for directors to seemingly disappear for years, sometimes decades at a time, then re-appear with a new movie out of the blue. My nostalgia … Continue reading

Night of the Assassin | aka The Assassin (2023) Review
Director: Kwak Jeong-deok Cast: Shin Hyun-joon, Kim Min-kyung, Lee Ro-woon, Lee Moon-sik, Hong Eunki, Kim Byung-chun Running Time: 100 min. By Paul Bramhall I remember back in 2003, the UK DVD label Hong Kong Legends created a sister label called Premier Asia, of which the intent was to highlight productions from other parts of Asia beyond Hong Kong shores. And like 3-Iron, Arahan, JSA and a host … Continue reading

Bichunmoo | aka Flying Warriors (2000) Review
Director: Kim Young-jun Cast: Shin Hyun-joon, Kim Hee-sun, Jeong Jin-young, Jang Dong-jik, Choi Yoo-jung, Gi Ju-bong Running Time: 118 min. By Alexander Bichunmoo is essentially a series of set pieces featuring beautiful people, gorgeous costumes and rousing music periodically interspersed with imaginative fight scenes that blend arcade-style action and wire-fu (and the occasional exploding torso and severed head). But despite the thin story (it’s all about the revenge-amins…again), implausible plot … Continue reading

Director: Jang Jin Cast: Shin Hyun-Joon, Shin Ha-Gyun, Won Bin, Jung Jai-Yung, Jeong Jin-Young Running Time: 123 min By Equinox21 This film is a classic! Though, it took watching it twice to come to that realization. But every time I watch this one, I come to appreciate it even more.
