Split Second | Blu-ray (MVD Rewind)
On August 11, 2020, MVD Rewind will release the Blu-ray for Tony Maylam’s Split Second, a 1992 sci-fi thriller starring Rutger Hauer (The Iron Mask, Blast, The Hitcher) Kim Cattrall (Big Trouble in Little China, Sex and the City). At the time of its release, the film was marketed as “Blade Runner Meets Alien”.

In the year 2008, the cops are better armed than before, but nothing has prepared them for this. Swift, sharp-clawed and deadly, something moves among them on the streets, in the alleyways, on the rooftops, tearing out human hearts and devouring them. Maverick cop Harley Stone (Hauer) lost his partner to the beast, and now it looks like his girlfriend Michelle (Cattrall) is next on the killer’s list. Starting with a brand new high definition presentation overseen by Joe Rubin, the main feature is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio, newly scanned, restored and color graded in 4K from the 35MM internegative, with uncompressed 2-channel stereo audio.

Its not a bad film, it does get going, its got Rutger in a badass role and Kim Cattrall is always enjoyable.
Im pretty sure this film got me back into drinking Lapsang Souchong tea, which is a smoked tea and was in-fact the first black tea in existence. Someone in the film mentions the tea and I thought I would try it again having not had any for years (its got a very specific flavour).. Lapsing was apparently invented in China because an invading army was on its way so they artificially dried some tea using camp-fires before moving on (hence it is smoked). Funnily enough, I believe drinking this tea detoxed my system and probably helped me quite cigarettes. Though I had “quit” the reality was any time I drank alcohol, I would be a social smoker, often buying a pack. But after drinking this tea for a while, I was out drinking and a friend gave me a cigarette … I took one drag and immediately threw it away. I was disgusted, the cigarette was now alien to me and could never imagine smoking tobacco again.
So, if you are having trouble quitting cigarettes, why not follow the exact methods I did? Get yourself a copy of Split Second, be prompted to drink a certain kind of tea and become detoxed to the point that you will find tobacco smoke disgusting.
