New York Ninja (1984) Review

New York Ninja | Blu-ray (Vinegar Syndrome)

New York Ninja | Blu-ray (Vinegar Syndrome)

Director: John Liu
Re-director: Kurtis Spieler
Cast: John Liu and voice acting of Don “The Dragon” Wilson, Linnea Quigley, Michael Berryman, Vince Murdocco, Matt Mitler, Leon Isaac Kennedy, Ginger Lynn Allen, Cynthia Rothrock
Running Time: 93 min.

By Paul Bramhall

John Liu’s directorial career spanned 3 productions in total – 1979’s Zen Kwun Do Strikes in Paris, 1981’s Ninja In the Claws of the CIA, and 1982’s Dragon Blood – each looking to extol the virtues of Liu’s image as a sex symbol and the founder of the mysterious martial art Zen Kwun Do. As it turned out though, at the time the world just wasn’t ready to handle Liu’s ego fuelled cinematic odysseys, and they were all box office bombs, leading to Liu disappearing into the ether. That is, until 2021. At some point US based cult film distributor Vinegar Syndrome had purchased the assets from the long gone 21st Century Distribution, of which their reels sat in VS’s film archives. In 2019 newcomer Kurtis M. Spieler had his curiosity piqued by a specific bunch of reels that were sat in a cardboard box labelled New York Ninja, an apparent ninja flick that was believed to never be finished, and destined for the trashcan (even Troma had passed on it).

The rest as they say, is history – Spieler decided to check out what was on them, and discovered literally hours of footage featuring John Liu running around New York in a white ninja costume. We can only speculate, but perhaps fuelled by the success of Sho Kosugi’s Enter the Ninja and Revenge of the Ninja, the now 40-year-old Liu decided to give filmmaking one last shot – and it was go big or go home. Looking to break the American market, he headed to New York and filmed guerrilla style on the streets of Brooklyn, backed by 21st Century Distribution, who thought any movie featuring a ninja was likely to be a hit. However staff changes and money troubles seemingly led to filming Continue reading

5 Tips for Buying CBD Isolate Bulk

There are quite a few things to consider before buying CBD isolate in bulk, including product quality and variety. It’s also crucial to consider making your own CBD isolate products using bulk ingredients or buying premade.

This guide will discuss some of the best tips for buyers looking to purchase CBD isolate bulk quantities. If you’ve been considering a bulk order of CBD isolate ingredients or products, you won’t want to miss this advice!

1. Consider Quality

The first thing you’ll want to think about when buying CBD isolate bulk is quality. After all, CBD isolate is a type of CBD that doesn’t contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

THC is the primary psychoactive compound found in cannabis. In many states, CBD products that contain even trace amounts of THC are illegal or prohibited.

As such, purchasing CBD isolate in bulk from a disreputable retailer can land you in serious legal trouble. That’s because untrustworthy CBD isolate manufacturers might not measure the THC content in their products.

2. Choose a Variety of Products

When purchasing inventory for a smoke shop, it’s crucial to choose a wide variety of CBD products for your clientele. After all, you’ll never know which items are hits with your visitors unless you diversify your inventory.

There are quite a few CBD isolate products to buy in bulk, and most fall into one of the following categories:

  • Topical
  • Edible
  • Vape

The right products for you depend on your customer’s needs and preferences. For example, if you’re purchasing for a tobacco store or convenience store, you may want to choose CBD vape products.

However, if you’re purchasing bulk orders for a smoke shop that caters to CBD users, you’ll likely want to offer a little bit of everything.

Topical

Topical CBD isolate products include tinctures, oils, salves, lotions, shampoos, and soaps. They’re designed to be applied directly to the skin, and either massaged into the skin or washed away.

Selling these products in a tobacco or smoke shop might not be an easy feat. However, if your business primarily deals in health-conscious products and foods, you might find that CBD topicals are a profitable choice.

Edible

Edible CBD products can be sold in a variety of stores, though some states may require retailers to acquire a CBD retail license to sell them. CBD isolate edibles are often gummy candies that come in several fruit flavors.

However, you can also find CBD chocolates and similar confections from various online bulk retailers. The best edible CBD isolate products for your business depend on your location, licensure, and clientele.

Vape

Vape CBD isolate products tend to be preloaded handheld vaporizers filled with an isolate CBD vape concentrate. CBD vape cartridges and juices are also common types of CBD vape products.

These products are best-suited to smoke, vape, and tobacco shops that already carry a selection of vaporizers and vape accessories. If you don’t have a ton of inventory space, single-use CBD vapes are the best way to go.

3. Think About Making Your Own

If you’re looking to maximize profits from your bulk CBD products, you might want to consider purchasing ingredients and manufacturing your own line of products.

Wholesale raw materials are the least expensive CBD isolate products to buy in bulk quantities. Ordering raw CBD isolate powder or distillate in bulk is easy when shopping online.

Be sure to learn more about CBD ingredients and products to discover which type best suits your needs and preferences.

4. Compare Deals and Sales

It’s never a good idea to purchase from the first bulk retailer that suits your inventory needs. Instead, you should take the extra few minutes to compare your chosen retailer’s price to other marketplace offers.

Remember, buying in bulk is profitable because it allows you to purchase a greater quantity of products for a lower per-unit price. Therefore, it’s best to make your deals stretch as far as possible when buying bulk CBD.

5. Select a Reputable Retailer

Our last central word of advice is, “Be careful who you buy CBD isolate from.” While this might seem overly cautious, it’s crucial to remember that some CBD isolate retailers and manufacturers aren’t trustworthy.

It’s easy to accidentally purchase a large quantity of inferior-grade or THC-laced products if you’re not careful about who you’re buying from. The best way to avoid this situation is to check for third-party lab test results.

Reputable CBD isolate retailers will always direct potential buyers toward legitimate third-party test results showing precise product ingredients measurements. Avoid retailers that don’t have test results.

Why Choose CBD Isolate?

As a retailer or manufacturer, you may ask yourself, “Why should I buy CBD in bulk?” The precise answer is bound to vary depending on the type of inventory you keep.

But one of the most common reasons you might want to choose bulk CBD isolate products and ingredients is to avoid THC.

Avoiding THC

THC products aren’t fully decriminalized, and as such, possessing or selling products that contain THC may be illegal in your area. But CBD isolate is THC-free, making it one of the most accessible types of CBD.

If you’re looking to avoid purchasing potentially illegal products that contain THC, investing in bulk CBD isolate could be the right choice. Still, be sure to check your region’s cannabis laws before purchasing these products.

Choose the Best CBD Bulk Products

When buying CBD isolate bulk, you’ll want to take a little extra time to consider product quality, variety, and price. It’s also crucial to always buy from reputable retailers.

Whether you’re looking to purchase premade products or manufacture your own products, there are bulk options to suit your needs. Investing in CBD isolate could be a wise business decision.

After all, CBD is generally free of THC, making it one of the more legalized forms of CBD. If you enjoyed this article, be sure to check out related CBD articles now!

The perfect spill kit for vehicles

Spill kits are a great help when it comes to all kinds of spills. Mainly used in industrial settings they are becoming more popular to carry around in vehicles as well, to deal with anything from oil and fuel to AdBlue.

So, to help you choose the best spill kit to keep in your vehicle we have compiled a guide to the different types and their purposes.

What are spill kits?

Spill kits contain everything you need to deal with hazardous and non-hazardous spills in a safe way. They include a container holding absorbent materials, which will often be pads or long socks (also known as rolls) that can be put around the spill to create a barrier so it does not spread to a bigger area.

Depending on the type and size of the spill kit you choose, they may also include squeegees, gloves and plastic trays.

Types of spill kits

Oil spill kits

Oil spill kits will include: white absorbent pads and socks stored in a bag, plastic drum or wheelie bin, depending on the kit’s size. The pads and socks are designed to handle different types of oil like hydraulic, engine or lubricating oil, as well as fuels and other hydrocarbons.

The oil spill kit pads and socks absorb spilled oil but repel water, so they don’t become saturated with harmless substances before they can deal with the spill. This makes them  perfect to use to clean oil from water tanks, pools and even streams. It is easy to know when they have reached their limit as they will change colour when absorbing the oil.

AdBlue spill kit

The AdBlue spill kit usually comes with a blue top bin that has a clip-close system for easy storage. Inside, you will find GP socks and GP double weight pads, disposable bags and ties.

AdBlue is a harmful substance that can do a lot of damage to the environment which is why an AdBlue spill kit is essential if you use AdBlue.

Chemical spill kit

Chemical spill kits are designed to soak up acids and alkalis and are ideal for COSHH-compliant workplaces.

EVO universal spill kit

A universal spill kit includes grey pads and socks, contained in a zip bag or a clip-close bin. Because of its ability to absorb and retain high volumes of liquid it can help prevent secondary contaminations after a spill. It is also ideal for use on many non-hazardous substances as it can absorb water, coolants, drinks, paint and other liquids. When oil spills are not contaminated with water then the universal spill kit can be used to soak up the oil.

Spill kit sizes

You can find a range of sizes on the market to meet your needs. EVO universal spill kits can range from 20  to 240 litres. AdBlue ones can be from 25 litres to 240 litres, to name a couple of examples.

Matrix Resurrections, The (2021) Review

"The Matrix Resurrections" Chinese Theatrical Poster

“The Matrix Resurrections” Chinese Theatrical Poster

Director: Lana Wachowski
Cast: Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Jessica Henwick, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jada Pinkett Smith, Daniel Bernhardt, Christina Ricci, Michael X. Sommers
Running Time: 148 min.

By Paul Bramhall

Making a sequel to a trilogy that re-defined the Hollywood action aesthetic 18 years after the last entry was always going to be a tall order, however in 2021 The Matrix Resurrections landed with a welcome sense of nostalgia. I confess The Matrix was a big deal for me. Released in 1999, it was the movie that opened my 18-year-old self’s eyes to the world of Hong Kong action cinema, inadvertently kick-starting a (so far) life-long addiction. The Matrix Reloaded leaned into the HK action influence even more, and despite its shortcomings, the fact that it was packed to the brim with fight scenes made it’s more dubious choices forgivable (I can even enjoy the blatantly CGI parts of the multiple-Agent Smith fight scene). The Matrix Revolutions saw the anime influence come to the fore, however the decision to have most of it play out in the ‘real world’ resulted in a movie that felt tonally flat, easily marking it as the weakest of the trilogy.

Understandably, many were hoping that The Matrix Resurrections would capture the magic of the original. Returning to the directors’ chair is Lana Wachowski, this time without her sister Lilly, who she helmed all 3 of the original trilogy with back when they were known as the Wachowski Brothers. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss also return as destined lovers Neo and Trinity, however beyond a scattering of other returning cast members, this latest entry brings onboard a host of new faces. For the script Wachowski has teamed up with writers David Mitchell and Aleksander Hemon, all of whom have collaborated together before on the Wachowski’s Sense8 series. The plot this time around sees Reeves back as game programmer Thomas Anderson. His status as a programmer Continue reading

Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) Review

"Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah" Theatrical Poster

“Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah” Theatrical Poster

Director: Kazuki Omori
Cast: Kosuke Toyohara, Anna Nakagawa, Megumi Odaka, Katsuhiko Sasaki, Akiji Kobayashi, Yoshio Tsuchiya, Robert Scott Field, Richard Berger, Wataru Fukuda
Running Time: 103 min.

By Ian Whittle

To paraphrase the great Professor Farnsworth: “Never take lessons in not-changing-history from a man who is his own grandpa!”

Godzilla vs King Ghidorah is the third film in the Heisei series, following on from The Return of Godzilla (1984) and Godzilla vs. Biollante (1989). The films in this series are sequels to the original 1954 Godzilla, but ignore all the Showa films made between 1955’s Godzilla Raids Again and 1975’s Terror of Mechagodzilla. Which means that in this series, this is the first appearance of Godzilla’s notorious foe King Ghidorah, a three headed monster who had originally appeared in Ghidorah the Three-Headed Monster (1964) and several other Showa films.

And if you think that’s complicated, wait until you hear the plot!

In 1992, a UFO that looks suspiciously like the USS Enterprise lands outside Tokyo. Its main occupants are an American man (Chuck Wilson), a Russian man (Richard Berger) and a Japanese woman (Anna Nakagawa), all of whom speak with bizarre Aussie/American accent hybrid accents in the English dub of course. They speak with the Japanese government and explain they come from the 23rd Century, where Japan is an atomic wasteland following an attack from Godzilla. The people from the future, known as the Futurians in some circles, has found a book by sci-fi author Terasawa (Kosuke Toyohara) that theorises Godzilla was a dinosaur contaminated by the H-Bomb Continue reading

Short Sale vs. Foreclosure: What Are the Differences?

Did you know that foreclosures have increased by 67% last October?

This can be quite the opportunity for home buyers. Finding a suitable home sale bargain in today’s fast-paced and competitive industry might be difficult.

A distressed property may be right for you if you’re searching for a new house at or below market value and you’re persistent and patient. However, before you narrow your search, you’ll need to have a solid understanding of short sale vs. foreclosure.

Read on for our breakdown of the differences between a short sale and a foreclosure. We’ll explain them one concept at a time.

Short Sale vs. Foreclosure: What Is a Short Sale?

In the simplest of terms, both parties must have a written agreement to proceed with a short sale before it can commence. A short sale will need documents from the lender, generally a bank. This is because the lending institution stands to lose a substantial amount of money.

If your lender authorizes a short sale, the buyer first negotiates with the homeowner before going to the bank for permission on a purchase. You can’t finalize a short sale without the consent of the lender.

The lender gets the selling funds after the short sale has been authorized and completed. On the other hand, the homeowner is still liable for the deficit, which is the balance of the loan.

The Benefits of Short Sales

Foreclosures are often in worse condition than short sales. Many folks are attempting to recover as much of their credit as possible. There is a good chance they have taken care of the utilities and other routine maintenance.

Short-sale properties have less competition. You may have a fantastic deal on a short-sale house, which can sell for less than the market value. There are a lot of homebuyers who are afraid of the procedure and don’t want to deal with a bank.

The Drawbacks of Short Sales

You’ll find that short sales are set up “as is,” there is a higher chance of losing money when purchasing one. After paying the outstanding debt, the existing owner might retain the house. The buyer would have to forfeit any inspection or due diligence fees paid.

Because several lienholders are involved in a short sale, the process might take longer than a regular house sale. If the property has additional liens, such concerns will need to be resolved and authorized by the bank before the sale may go through.

There may be a lot of extra paperwork, fact-checking, and follow-up with the bank, realtors, and others involved in a short sale purchase. There may be a lot of neglected maintenance concerns that need to be handled promptly by homeowners who are in a short sale scenario.

What Is a Foreclosure?

Foreclosures are started solely by lenders, unlike short sales. If a borrower is three to six months or more late on their payments, their lender has the right to foreclose on the property.

Foreclosure processes differ from state to state regarding the notices lenders must issue and homeowners’ choices to bring the debt current. There are certain limits imposed by law on how quickly a bank must sell a property.

But, if you’re on the other end of the spectrum as the homeowner, you might want to learn more here about avoiding foreclosure on your house.

Here’s how the process works. First, the lender initiates legal proceedings to seize ownership of the property and compel the sale of the residence. The lender hopes to recoup its original investment in the mortgage by taking this action against delinquent borrowers.

In contrast to short sales, many foreclosures occur after the homeowner has left the property and can no longer pay the mortgage. If they haven’t already done so, the lender evicts the residents in the foreclosure process.

To complete the property sale, the lender must have access to the property. Because the lender is anxious about getting rid of the asset as soon as possible, foreclosures often go through faster than short sales.

Foreclosed properties may also be sold through trustee sales when purchasers compete for the property in a public auction.

The Advantages of Foreclosures

Real estate that has been foreclosed on is often sold below the market value.
Sale timelines are shorter for foreclosures than for short sales since most of them are sold as-is for cash.

When a homeowner is short for cash, the property may be subject to tax liens or delinquent taxes. In the event of a bank foreclosure, all liens and encumbrances against the property are removed from the title.

The Disadvantages of Foreclosures

When buying a foreclosed house, the most significant obstacle you may face is finding a buyer willing to pay cash. Buyers will probably require a substantial amount of money to buy the house and to cover the price of renovations.

Homeowners who reach the point of foreclosure on their property have generally run into serious financial difficulties and have either ignored or abandoned their property’s upkeep.

What About Preforeclosure?

The first phase in a foreclosure action is a preforeclosure, initiated when a homeowner fails to make three to six months of mortgage payments.

There are many choices available to borrowers in preforeclosure. Several options are available to those who have fallen behind on their mortgage payments, including making a lump-sum payment, working with their lender to modify their loan, or simply selling their property to avoid foreclosure.

The owner or a real estate agent conducts the transaction in both preforeclosures and short sales. Short sales might be more complex because the bank is involved and has the authority to reject bids that the owner has accepted.

Short Sale Tips: Simple and Sweet

If you’re new to the world of real estate, then trying to figure out the nuances between short sales and foreclosures on distressed properties can be overwhelming.

Hopefully, our guide has broken down the differences between short sale vs. foreclosure. This way, you can decide with a solid foundation of research. And, if you are hungry for more advice, you can head to our real estate section for our additional strategies and explainers.
