A sequel to 1999’s Gen-X Cops and 2000’s Gen-Y Cops (aka Metal Mayhem) is in-the-works with director Benny Chan (Call of Heroes) and the films’ original stars Daniel Wu (Sky on Fire), Stephen Fung (Bio-Cops), Nicholas Tse (The Viral Factor) and Sam Lee (Wild City) are all returning.

According to FEF (via FCS), Tse has told the local media that the film’s script is currently being written and there will certainly be action scenes, because action films are the spirit of Hong Kong cinema.

There is currently no word if Edison Chen, who replaced Tse as the main lead in Gen-Y Cops, has been contacted to reprise his role.

We’ll keep you updated on this story as we learn more.

Haha! I don’t think Edison Chen wants to be anywhere near Nic Tse after that nude photo scandal from a while back!

I’d totally welcome this since Gen X Cops was a fun romp while Gen Y was a guilty pleasure. (Understandably hated by many.) I’d rather Paul Rudd and especially Jaymee Ong came back! (Is she still acting?)

  2. Tey Vang says:

This movie, I hope, gives us a worthy sequal to the awesome Gen X, Y Cops movie… Nice to see them all return for the movie. As for Edison Chen, Idon’t really care for him… He didn’t really do anything for the movie, Gen Y Cops really wasted a lot of footage giving him more screen time then the two original stars…

  3. And I’m sure that GEN Y COPS’ Paul Rudd(nowadays known as Marvel’s ANT-MAN) will be asking for much more money if he’s asked to return.

Why not? He’s done a lot of other good work as well since then!

I’d hope the producers would give it too him since his name would give the film a big boost!
