Action legend Michelle Yeoh (Everything Everywhere All at Once, Royal Warriors) is set to star in 30West’s The Mother, an upcoming action thriller from filmmaker/actress, Mélanie Laurent (Galveston, Tomorrow, Inglourious Basterds).

The film – based on the screenplay by P.G. Cuschieri (Cut Throat City) – follows an immigrant mother (Yeoh) and businesswoman, Ann, who’s attempting to make the best of her new life in America with her family. When her two teenage sons stumble into trouble with a Boston dirty cop and a crime ring, the mother has no choice but to rekindle her past and will stop at nothing until they are safe (via Deadline).

Here’s hoping The Mother is more of a gritty actioner for Yeoh, perhaps mirroring Kara Hui’s 2016 comeback Mrs K? Whatever the case, we’ll be sure to keep you updated on this project, which begins production this summer.

For now, we leave you with the Trailer for Royal Warriors:

  1. Kevin says:

Sounds a bit like the movie Donnie Yen was going to make in Boston a few years back. None of Donnie American staring role has materialized.

  2. Aerosniff Someglue says:

    Mélanie Laurent?

Another one who thinks directing action is easy. Next.
