88 Films’ Blu-ray (Region A) for Magic Cop, a 1990 Hong Kong actioner from Stephen Tung Wei (Fox Hunter) that stars Lam Ching Ying (Mr. Vampire, Hocus Pocus), is now available at Goodie Emporium.

Magic Cop follows a former cop – known for his supernatural skills and detective techniques – who rejoins the police department to investigate a drug ring that employs ghosts and vampires.

Magic Cop also stars Michiko Nishiwaki (In the Line of Duty 3), Michael Miu (Burning Ambition), and Billy Chow (Iron Monkey 2).

Although it has no relation to the Mr. Vampire series, Magic Cop is known in some territories as Mr. Vampire 5,  due to the connection of the lead actor Lam Ching Ying and also the film’s supernatural subplots.

  1. Andrew Hernandez says:

I had the Mega Star dvd years ago. I wasn’t in love with Mr Vampire, and this spiritual successor didn’t pique my fancy too much either. Maybe if I had more knowledge of all the mystical references, that would help, but I guess this specifically isn’t my thing.

I was looking forward to seeing Lam Ching Ying fight Billy Chow, but it ended up being pretty lackluster.
