Alain Moussi (Kill Order, Street Fighter: Resurrection), the rising action star from Kickboxer: Vengeance and Kickboxer: Retaliation, is re-teaming with his Kickboxer: Vengeance filmmaker Dimitri Logothetis for Jiu-Jitsu, which releases on November 20, 2020.
This upcoming sci-fi martial arts film (read our review) features an all-star cast that includes Nicolas Cage (Outcast, Face/Off), Frank Grillo (Beyond Skyline), Tony Jaa (Triple Threat), JuJu Chan (The Empty Hands), Rick Yune (The Man with the Iron Fists), Marrese Crump (Tom Yum Goong 2) and Marie Avgeropoulos (Tracers).
Handling the action on Jiu-Jitsu is stuntman/actor, Supoj Khaowwong, whose previous credits include Hard Target 2, No Escape and Black Mask 2: City of Masks.
Here’s what you can expect from the plot: Every six years, an ancient order of expert Jiu Jitsu fighters faces a fearsome alien invader in a battle for Earth. When war hero and master Jiu Jitsu fighter Jake Barnes (Moussi) refuses to face Brax, the indomitable leader of the invaders, the future of humanity hangs in the balance. Injured and suffering from severe amnesia, Jake is captured by a military squad who have descended upon the planet and is rescued by Wylie (Cage) and a team of fellow Jiu Jitsu fighters who must help him recover his memory and regain his strength to engage in an epic battle that will once again determine the fate of mankind (via Deadline).

So Mortal Kombat with aliens instead of alternate dimention.. gotcha.
LMAO! You took the words right of my mouth. Why not make a modern day movie and save some money? 😉
Based on the title, I hope they put a lot of emphasis on grappling. It’ll be interesting to see Moussi and Jaa utilize different techniques. (Unless they decide to change the title for marketing reasons.)
Outcomes for this movie –
1. It eventually gets made, with no sign of Tony Jaa.
2. It never gets made.
no with 15mins of Tony Jaa screen time, but name promoted like crazy on the movie
why waste time on such plot!?
just modernise the damn movie man, instead of making it sci-fi.
Because sci-fi with low budget will make money crap!
3rd movie in a row where Demetrius and co failed to pay everyone and production ‘ran out of money’s
The first Kickboxer, left crew in New Orleans and then Thailand waiting to get paid
Kickboxer the sequel, different production company and same issues in Thailand
JUjitsu, production ran out of money and people left hanging again, despite the rebates and the partying
3 times in a row tells me it’s not accidental
If his film’s don’t make enough money to fund his projects, it’s time to QUIT.
Tony, go in China for good.
Do you like paying in shitty US movies, most of them going straight to video, or do you prefer being in Sha po lang 2, Paradox, Master Z – The IP Man legacy (sorry but I have a soft spot for this one, and Michelle Yeoh kicks ass in it, and Jaa’s part is asking for a sequel or even a spin-off…that would be the spin-off of a spin-off…not sure about Max Zhang who is really not great in it… already 5 years since he kicked butt in Sha po lang 2 and IP Man 3), and the unrealesed Detective Chinatown 3 (huge franchise, the second did about 540 M$ in China…I haven’t seen one, I don’t if they are watch able or more, but still, not a shitty direct to video…)…
Please let this get a theatrical release here in Singapore. I like what i am seeing here.
