is it just me or they’re trying really hard to make Jon foo look like Iko Uwais?

I didn’t think about that. Definitely similar! Intentional, I wouldn’t hold it against them. I’m wondering why the marketing team doesn’t take advantage of using some out-of-context positive quote to sell the movie. Or even change the title to “The Last Resort: Raid”.

There has always been Raid-ploitation. Now we’re getting real specific with Iko Uwais-ploitation! (and for a while, pre-Raid, many considered Iko Uwais “Tony Jaa-ploitation”.) I was thinking about adding Rush Hour-ploitation, but that would be way past overkill.

With that said, this movie is Die Hard/Raid/Iko Uwais/Tony Jaa-ploitation rolled into one juicy package.

The trailer is well put together, but let’s see how the film reads. John Foo has always had god potential with being on ex Jackie Chan stunt team member and looking good in Tom Yum Goong, but subsequent films have not shown the best of him, and Bangkok Revenge was terrible in every way.

I’m a little worried that it’s a reunion with him and Jean-Marc Maleo, but at least the action had the appearance of being coherent.
