We’ll soon be seeing Hong Kong star Anthony Wong (Untold Story, Untold Story 2, Visible Secret) appear in Emmanuelle, an erotic thriller from director Audrey Diwan (Happening).

Wong will star alongside an all-star cast that’s headlined by Noémie Merlant (Portrait of a Lady on Fire) and Naomi Watts (Boss Level, The Ring), with co-stars Will Sharpe (The White Lotus), Jamie Campbell Bower (Stranger Things) and Chacha Huang (Money Heist).

According to Deadline, plot details are being kept under wraps but Diwan’s film will deviate from the lucrative and cult 1974 movie adaptation of Arsan’s novel, which starred Sylvia Kristel as the wife of a French diplomat in Bangkok who embarks on a voyage of sexual discovery.

Look out for Emmanuelle in 2024. Until then, we leave you with the Trailer for the 1974 original:

What’s the point of this other than an attempt to cash-in on an already known title? I am guessing what will be different is no sex or little to no nudity. Different times now so the original concept belongs to a different era. Let it be!

Considering the international cast, I don’t think this movie will be made within the “system,” and will be released elsewhere. It seems hard to cash in on Emmanuelle since not a lot of people remember it and subsequent “Emmanuelle” films had nothing to do with the original.

“since not a lot of people remember it”

    Now THAT was funny.
