At this year’s Cannes, director Chaya Supannarat (Bangkok Dog) will be screening her sophomore martial arts actioner, Gladiator Underground.
The Bleiberg/Dimbort-backed film reunites Supannarat with Bangkok Dog star D.Y. Sao (Shadow Master). Also headlining are Andy Le (The Paper Tiger), Brian Le (American Born Chinese).
All three of these martial arts talents are known for their stuntwork in films such as 2015’s Unlucky Stars, 2021’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once – so it’ll be interesting what they deliver!
Gladiator Underground involves Max and Wu, two long time rivals, are competing in the world’s most dangerous underground fighting tournament, where powerful crimelords can gamble and influence who they fight, the terrain they fight on and what weapons will be used. In this high-stakes bloodsport where one wrong move can mean certain death, they must decide whether to play by the rules or to cast their honor aside and team up against the dark syndicate running the tournament and bring the entire system down.
A Trailer and official release date are still pending. Until then, here’s a look at what these guys can do in the short, Shaolin Avengers. And right below is the Trailer for Chaya Supannarat’s Bangkok Dog:
