On August 25, 2025, 88 Films will release a Blu-ray (Region B) for Devil Fetus, a 1983 Hong Kong horror film from director Lau Hung-Chuen (Those Were the Days) and producer Lo Wei (The Big Boss).
In the film, a woman becomes possessed and dies after a monster is released from an antique vase she had purchased. Twelve years later the monster is re-awakened. First he possesses the family’s dog, before moving on to the woman’s nephew.
A maximalist Hong Kong horror in the tradition of The Boxer’s Omen and Black Magic, The Devil Foetus blends extreme imagery with esoteric lore for something a bit wilder than western horror movies. 88 Films are proud to present a true classic of Asian fantasy cinema on blu-ray for the first time in the UK.
Devil Fetus stars Shirley Lui Sau-Ling (Runaway Blues), Eddie Chen (Port of Call), Lu Bei-Bei (Official Exterminator 2: Heaven’s Hell), Leung San (Happy Ghost II) and Lau Dan (The House of 72 Tenants).
