Today’s Deal on Fire is the Blu-ray for Donnie Yen and Andy Lau’s Chasing the Dragon (read our review), an action/thriller directed by Wong Jing (Mercenaries from Hong Kong) and renowned cinematographer Jason Kwan (As the Light Goes Out, Helios).
Donnie Yen (Big Brother, Ip Man 4: The Finale) plays real-life gangster Ng Sek-ho (aka Crippled Ho). Andy Lau (Switch, Mission Milano) reprises his role as Lee Rock (he starred in a pair of movies as the character in the early 90’s)
In Chasing the Dragon, an illegal immigrant (Yen) from Mainland China sneaks into corrupt British-colonized Hong Kong in 1963, transforming himself into a ruthless and emerging drug lord.
Chasing the Dragon also stars Philip Ng (Birth of the Dragon, Zombie Fight Club), Michelle Hu (Once Upon a Time in Shanghai), Kent Cheng (Run and Kill) and Philip Keung (Full Strike).

Pingback: M.A.A.C. – DONNIE YEN To Play Notorious Gangster In CHASING THE DRAGON
The more I read about upcoming Donnie Yen movies, the more I believe ‘Ice Man 2’ was never actually filmed, and is destined to be to Yen’s filmography what ‘Kung Fu Cult Master’ is to Jet Li’s.
Iceman 2 continues to be a mystery, it was shot, and a trailer for it popped up at the HK Filmart in March and then all went quiet again…..
Now ask Jet & Sammo about Kung Fu Cult Master 2!
Ice man w@s the only bad donnie yen movie every made i couldnt even finish it. the horrible wig ,cheesy script, comedy that didnt translate. The storyline in the past seemed more interesting and incredibly ludicris fake wire fu action.noodle man & crippled ho
Sound great
This basically looks like “American Gangster” with Andy Lau in the Russell Crowe role and Donnie Yen in the Denzel Washington role. Curious for a Donnie movie that there is no action in the trailer…!
I’m happy to see Donnie in a lead role that doesn’t require his martial arts skills and lets him test his range a bit. The movie looks decent based on the trailers. Here’s hoping it delivers.
I was hoping Martin would be right about a supposed extended cut.
