Indonesian martial arts star Iko Uwais (Triple Threat, Headshot, Beyond Skyline) is launching Uwais Pictures, his own film production company that specializes in fight choreography, action design, and stunt performances.
The action-focused production company he runs with his team of collaborators is expanding its remit to the global market. The aim is to replicate the success of modestly budgeted, local-language hits such as The Raid, The Raid 2, and The Night Comes for Us (via Deadline).
Under the new label, Uwais has already completed two films: Timur (inspired by the 1996 Mapenduma hostage crisis) and Ikatan Darah.
Check out a still from Timur below:
Yes! He is wasted in the american movies he’s been in
Hope this goes well for him and his crew. They should get involved with The Shadow Strays Part 2.
This is great news. Let’s hope that these turn out well, so he can go even bigger with his next projects.
Timur literally means “East”, refering to the eastern region of Indonesia (westward half of Papua Island). Ikatan Darah can be translated as “Blood Ties”. It looks to be a story about brotherhood; a guy must commit violence to save the life of his brother.
