God of Gamblers | Blu-ray (88 Films)

On May 1, 2023, 88 Films will be releasing a Blu-ray (Region B) for God of Gamblers, Wong Jing’s 1989 Hong Kong action-comedy classic that stars Chow Yun Fat (Hard Boiled, Project Gutenberg), Andy Lau (The White Storm 2: Drug Lords, The Last Blood) and Joey Wong (City Hunter, The Big Heat).
Ko Chun is the greatest high-roller in the world, king of the casino and as cool as only an in-his-prime Chow Yun-fat can be. But that’s before a nasty head injury renders him mentally disabled. After being befriended by unscrupulous hustler ‘Knife’ (golden-throated Canto-Pop king Andy Lau), it is discovered that, despite his other impairments, Ko’s unerring instincts for gambling remain intact. Knife thinks he’s on to a sure thing but Ko still has enemies and they haven’t forgotten him… A huge hit on its original release, and one of the defining films of Chow Yun-fat’s astonishing career, the card-sharks at 88 Films are proud to roll the dice on a gloriously restored version of this Hong Kong classic.

Are the other God of Gamblers movies starring Chow Yun-Fat going to get 88 Films releases as well?
Nothing announced yet. I’m sure every one is crossing their fingers.
Unfortunately the sequel with Chow Yun fat belongs to Cinema City/Golden princess company, which no longer are in film business, so due to this fact, all movies under their banner (including one Hard Boiled) are in limbo for an uncertain amount of time.
I don’t think that’s correct. For example, France is releasing ‘God of Gamblers Return’.
I’m frequently reading from one forum, dedicated for all movies (www.blu-ray.com) including Asian cinema as well, and the info so far regarding Return of God of Gamblers released in Germany is a bootleg, with an illegal source from Malaysia. I have no idea about a French release of the movie so far, maybe you are referring to the sequels with Stephen Chow?
At the end of this month Spectrum Films is releasing a 6-BR box set with all the movies. Price is 80 euros excl. shipping which is 5 euros to Germany.
