    Favorite Gangster movie: Casino

Casino directed by Scorsese, staring Deniro, Pesci, Sharon Stone, James Woods and so many more, it’s just an amazing film backed with a rocking soundtrack and that desert scene with Pesci and his brother, still haunts me today.

  2. Ben (2) says:

I’m going to have to go with Infernal Affairs as being my favorite gangster film so far. The music and character depth are really compelling.

  3. Kevin Tran (3) says:

My favorite gangster movie is scarface. It is a gangster movie that other gangster is learning from. Sammo Hung got some idea from scarface that he used for Dragonever. If you watch both movies, you will see where he got the idea from.

  4. alan tan (4) says:

A Better Tomorrow, comes to mind.it had a stylish , free flowing gun play scenes.

  5. OpiumKungFuCracker says:

Damn you CityOnFIre, why do I have to choose one? Gangster movies are my favorite kind of film you can’t limit my likings to just one!!!!!!

  6. Jeff (5) says:

Favorite gangster flick is Korean’s “A Bittersweet Life.” Gangster on a revenge… intense and great filmmaking at its best.

  7. The Godfather. Plain and simple. May be too “talky” for some, but you can’t deny that Francis Ford Coppola was not only at the top of his game as an artist, he also reached a level that very few directors reach! Runners up: Once Upon A Time In America, Year of the Dragon, Casino, Goodfellas, Scarface (though it’s so played out – I personally prefer Carlitos Way!)…

  8. Matthew (6) says:

My favorite gangster film is The Godfather.

  9. Kyle Warner (7) says:

The Godfather. Not just the best gangster film ever, but one of the best films ever made, regardless of genre. Classic. Honorable mention for: Casino, The Godfather Part II, and Miller’s Crossing.

  10. Proutcast (8) says:

A favorite of my is American Gangster with Mr. Denzel Washington. Also Johnny To’s Exiled!

  11. Andry (9) says:

A Bittersweet Life from Korea. Awesome movie. Lee Byung-Hun is one of my fav actors!

  12. Nick (10) says:

My favorite gangster movie is The Untouchables, mainly because it is a Chicago movie, which is where I am from. The cast is great. I’ve actually been to a few of the locations used in the movie. My favorite being Union Station where the baby carriage scene happens. A somewhat underrated gangster movie that I feel more people need to see.

  13. Travis Else (11) says:

The Untouchables. Great cast. Classic De Palma.

  14. Robert B (12) says:

Scarface! It was epic. Powerful acting and the story was modest but still delivered memorable moments that are ingrained in my brain.

  15. Adam S. (13) says:

I would have to say Election by Johnnie To. Great set pieces and colors throughout and wonderful performances from Simon Yam and cast. I would also have to say Sparrow as well but I do not think it fits into the criteria for “gangster pictures.” But it is still a great film especially the ending dance of pickpocketing.

  16. allison (14) says:

That is a tough one but I would go with Goodfellas since I can watch that one over and over and even if it is cut on tv I’ll still put it on. Or I don’t know if these count but Zero Woman: Red Handcuffs, Wandering Ginza Butterfly, Sex & Fury or Female Yakuza Tale

  17. G (15) says:

Everyone posted great picks here are a couple of my favs: “Monga” from a couple of years ago (Taiwanese “Gang of Princes”) and most recenly I enjoyed the “The Last Tycoon” w/ Chow Yun Fat and Sammo Hung-Shanghai gangsters and WWII -slower paced film but very memorable to say the least. Hats off to those who posted “A Bittersweet Life” one of my all time favs.

  18. Marion B (16) says:

Belly. It’s the best music video released in theatres. Totally a gangster movie with more style than substance, but… Chiquita: The most gangster gangster assassin ever. Awesome.

  19. Sam (17) says:

I’m going with Scarface. A great team of one of my favorite actors and directors. I love how well it puts you in a time and place. Great story of the rise and the fall. I think it’s both sincere and satirical, and a lot funnier than it gets credit for.

  20. David (18) says:

Godfather is the one all are measured up too. It still stands the test of time. I have to give props to Scarface though. Really hard to top these two.

  21. Casey Vreeman (19) says:

Cocaine Cowboys. I know it’s a documentary, but this beats any movie.

  22. chris (20) says:

I’d have to say that swinging 60’s noir classic, ‘Point Blank’, starring Lee Marvin and Angie Dickinson is still my all time favorite. I guess its because I’ve always preferred my gangster
films with a moral lesson attached. The moral to this one is never, never, never steal 93,000
    dollars from Lee Marvin. (!)

  23. Adi (21) says:

New Jack City, starring Wesley Snipes, Mario Van Peebles, Ice T, and Alan Payne. Great actors and music and its about the crack epidemic in NYC, how drug lords can be ruthless and cold, and how the justice system just isn’t fair.

And who doesn’t love the line “I wanna shoot you so bad, my d*ck’s hard”

    The ending is great too.

  24. Rayner Diaz says:

It has to be scarface due to part that I’m Cuban but the last scenes had me on the edge when he downer blow up the car because there are children in it ok so you take this guy hues done just about everything and to a man with no soul blowing up a car with children in it would be nothing but he hesitated and dint do I he don’t loose the last shred of humanity that e had and when he knows that their gonna kill him he practically said to him self fuck it if I die I’m going out with a bang say hello to my little Freind
