Zebraman: Ultimate Z-Pack | Blu-ray (Media Blasters)
On June 11, 2024, Media Blasters is releasing the Blu-ray set for Zebraman: Ultimate Z-Pack, from cult director Takashi Miike (First Love, Blade of the Immortal). The set contains 2004’s Zebraman and 2010’s Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City.
Zebraman – It’s 2010 and Shinichi (Sho Aikawa, Rainy Dog) is a down-trodden third-grade teacher who gets little respect from his own family let alone from his wise-ass students. Back in 1978 he became obsessed with a TV superhero named Zebraman, a show that was cancelled after only a few episodes. Since the Zebraman show was set in 2010, Shinichi decides the time is right to make a crude Zebraman costume and slink around the city at night to fulfill his childhood fantasy. His seemingly harmless escapism takes a sudden detour into harsh reality when he runs into a strange half-crab, half-man who was Zebraman’s arch enemy from the old show! Soon the saga of Zebraman and his war against the usual gang of strange alien enemies seems downright prophetic! Shinichi vows to fulfill the prophecy and become the super-hero of his childhood to protect the planet from the marauding menace!
Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City – The year is 2050, and Tokyo has fallen. Evil reigns supreme as the Zebra Queen, a hooved seductress, proceeds to conquer the world with the aid of her Mini Skirt Zebra Police. When Zebraman prepares to oppose the evil Queen, she steals his powers and institutes Zebra Time – ten minutes per day when murder and mayhem are legal! Without his super-strength, Zebraman is powerless to stop the rampaging onslaught of evil. Will the striped superhero regain his bad-ass superpowers and vanquish the Queen before it’s too late?
