"Dangerous Encounters of the First Kind" Chinese Theatrical Poster
THR reports that Hong Kong director Tsui Hark (Dangerous Encounters of the First Kind) will be directing a 3D horror film called The Villa. Hark, who is currently riding off the success of Young Detective Dee: Rise of the Sea Dragon – which is currently the ninth highest grossing Chinese film of all time – will start filming the $3 million dollar horror film next summer in China.
The Villa also marks Hark’s return horror, a genre he hasn’t explored since the 2008 supernatural-drama Missing and the 1980 cannibal/comedy/martial arts mash-up film, We’re Going to Eat You.
There are currently no plot details or casting information surrounding The Villa, but we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop as new information becomes available.
Tsui Hark made THE MISSING in 2008, which is a horror movie, admittedly a very lame and tame one.
