Indonesian director Timo Tjahjanto (The Big 4, The Night Comes for Us) – of the “Mo Brothers” directing duo (Killers, Headshot, Macabre) – is ready to unleash The Shadow Strays, which will premier on Netflix on October 17th.
In the film, a young assassin defies her mentor and organization, hell-bent on rescuing a boy who lost his mother to a powerful crime syndicate. Timo describes the film as having Abel Ferrara’s crime sleaze, a bit of Kinji Fukasaku and a dash of Mamoru Oshii’s Wolf Brigade.
The Shadow Strays stars Aurora Ribero (Like & Share), Hana Malasan (Ben & Jody), Ali Fikri (Nussa), Adipati Dolken (Posesif) Kristo Immanuel (The Big 4), Andri Mashadi (The Big 4), Chew Kin Wah (Kopitiam) and Arswendy Bening Swara (Impetigore).
Muhammad Irfan – who is known for his work on The Raid, The Raid 2, The Night Comes for Us, Headshot and The Big 4 – serves as both stunt coordinator and fight choreographer.

I hope it delivers on what it promises! A martial arts film in vein of those 3 film makers and creators sounds like a great way to change up the action formula we’re all used to!
Same. I actually liked NCFU more than the R films, as a “movie” as a whole.
Looks like it has the goods! I’m glad that October 17 isn’t that long a wait!
Mamma Mia….it was today, it was now
Nice looking full trailer. The plot seems a bit similar to The Night Comes For Us, but I’m sure there will be more variety to differentiate it. I like the Snake Eyes/Deathstroke inspired body armor.
