The Possession in Japan DVD (Tokyo Shock)

Tokyo Shock presents the DVD for The Possession in Japan. This updated, urban version of The Exorcist is directed by Kotaro Terauchi (Demeking: The Sea Monster). Young Lisa reaches 20 years of age and begins to suffer from an unusual phenomenon that turns her face more diabolical day by day. Diagnosed with schizophrenia, Lisa undergoes treatments but it becomes apparent that she’s possessed by the devil. Check out the trailer.
I reviewed this film back in August. It has a few redeeming qualities, but it does not deeply develop them. There is a nice twist and explanation at the end that most possession films avoid for obvious reasons, but the trip to the end is tedious. On top of that, it just doesn’t really have any “meat” and it’s not actually scary.
I’d wait until it’s up for streaming on Netflix or Amazon, or a really low price.
