Agh! Why does it have to be Region B only!? This was a fun movie!
This is a movie that needed the best release possible. It was annoying to have to switch between language tracks because Shu Qi and Zhao Wei were speaking Mandarin while Karen Mok and some others were in Cantonese. (although she dubbed her Mandarin self too)
There had to have been a lot of extras and behind the scenes material that was never included in any release. It’s funny how when this movie came out, people were bitching about HK cinema being dead, but now people wish more movies like So Close were still made.
From what I gathered it was Region B (they seem to label their A/B releases pretty good, as they did with their graphics for Inspector Wears Skirts 2 and Beauty of Beauties), but who knows to be 100% sure.
I’ve learned over time that when a release has that red rating icon at the bottom corner, it’s outside of North America. Maybe that can change too?
The actually do both (one with, one without) on some of their US/UK releases.
Instead of doing a star wars fan edit for 97456th time, someone could lend their skills and make a combined sync sound language track like Wong Kar Wai did for ashes of Time Redux
