RELEASE DATE: December 7, 2021
On December 7, 2021, Screen Media Films is releasing the Blu-ray & DVD for One Shot (read our review), the latest from martial arts star Scott Adkins (Ip Man 4, Triple Threat) and director James Nunn (Eliminators, Green Street 3: Never Back Down).
In this intense, non-stop action-thriller, relentlessly filmed in a single continuous take, an elite squad of Navy SEALs on a covert mission to transport a prisoner off a CIA black site island prison is trapped when insurgents attack, trying to rescue the same prisoner. Led by Lieutenant Blake Harris (Scott Adkins), the team, including Deputy Site Manager Tom Shields (Ryan Phillippe), must trust the secret intel of Junior Analyst Zoe Anderson (Ashley Greene) in order to deliver the prisoner and thwart a pending terrorist attack on Washington D.C.

Interesting, I mean one-take films have a history of either being fucking amazing (1917) or downright atrocious (Crazy Samurai Musashi) so we’ll see how this pans out, BUT this has me highly intrigued !
The difference is that “Crazy Samurai Musashi” is an actual single camera take, whereas 1917 is dozens of different camera takes carefully strung together with some digital trickery. The latter is obviously a good movie in its own right, but I have to give credit to the former for really delivering on its technical gimmick.
Absolutely full credit for pulling off the technical aspects of the film to the crew behind CSM, but to me technical proficiency amounts to very little when the plot is that threadbare in that film and the action is so weak (oners only work when they maintain energy, dynamism and entertainment value, the longer CSM goes on for, the more boring it becomes with mediocre choreography of single sword strokes, stuntmen clearly rolling out of frame to regroup down the line for the next fight and awful CGI blood).
i thought 1917 was crap

i just hope it’s not all in first person POW
I like Crazy Samurai 400 vs 1, gonna get the Well Go USA Blu-Ray soon.
I can’t stand all those big guys like Scott Adkins (not a star, come on!!!!), David Bautista (he hasn’t got a neck, his head is just a little ball on a mountain of muscles) and Co. They haven’t got an ounce of charisma and couldn’t act to save their lives. Put those circus clowns back where they belong: a ring.
Scott Adkins was never in a ring. He has always been an actor. When he isn’t bulked up to play Boyka, he’s got an athletic build. He is a decent actor with a good range. He just needs to be given something that isn’t an action movie.
I forgot Frank Grill. Oh my…
Anyone else spot the typo on the poster? 😛
Yep, One Shot is two words, not one. =)
his name
Damn, that is weak! Of all the things to get wrong on a poster…
Anyway, I’m intrigued about this project. ELIMINATORS was good with some exciting fights, and Scott has talked about being a fan of long takes throughout his Art of Action series. Plus, he pulled off a killer long take in UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: DAY OF RECKONING.

I love these action movies or as Ryan Philippe called it on Twitter a “an action flick” & are super excited to see its release even though it isn’t until next year in 2022. Being that I am a HUGE Ryan Philippe fan(always have been) & a big fan of Ashley Greene especially In the Twilight series ( my most favorite ever). Can not wait to see because every film Ryan Philippe has done I Loved & the movies didn’t disappoint
Did you see his recent action flick, The 2nd? It was not his finest moment, which is too bad since he’s an experienced Tae Keon Do artist.
online ut says plan to release in the fall–whenever that is
Nice trailer. It looks like Scott’s character from Zero Dark Thirty survived and got his own spin-off.
Jess Liaudin from Big Brother is the villain and gets a knife fight with Scott, so that’ll be cool too.
Watch Paul put out a review in a few weeks tearing this one apart and breaking our hearts lmao xD 🙁
Caught it on Vudu, and it was good stuff! A far cry from Legacy of Lies and Siezed, it’s less of a Scott Adkins movie and more of a thriller that has Scott Adkins. It shows similarities to Zero Dark Thirty with its political thriller themes but before you k ow it, the assault on the base happens and the audience in thrust into the middle of it.
There’s no flashy martial arts on display, but it’s very good action that keeps a tense pace throughout. When it finally gets to close quarters combat, it’s rewarding and on point choreography.
The final fight between Scott Adkins and Jess Liaudin was filled with intricate moves combined with heavy brawling, and was worth waiting for. Scott Adkins is definitely back in a big way.
watched it yesterday, and i’d say that aside some minor flaws it’s overall a pretty good flick. and i mean actually good, i think they did a truly remarkable job on coreographies both on and off screen, and the movie doesn’t fall short on other compartments too: a simple, well structured plot, lines that rarely sound too dumb, decent make up and sfx given the money, even some bits of noteworthy acting.
by far the best Scottie Adkins vessel since Ip Man 4.
