On January 21, 2025, Lionsgate Limited is partnering up with Quentin Tarantino for Remastered 4K SteelBook Editions of Kill Bill Vol. 1, Kill Bill Vol. 2, Jackie Brown, and a semi re-release of Reservoir Dogs.
There was some speculation if the upcoming 4K version of the Kill Bill films will include the long-awaited Whole Bloody Affair (Tarantino’s edit of both Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 as one film, complete with new footage), but judging from the newly released details, it doesn’t look like that’s happening.
The Kill Bill saga revolves around a former assassin (Uma Thurman) who wreaks vengeance on a team of assassins (David Carradine, Darryl Hannah, Michael Madsen, Lucy Lui and Vivica Fox) who not only betrayed her, but also left her for dead.
The film featured an all-star cast with names like Sonny Chiba (Doberman Cop), Gordon Liu (Shaolin Martial Arts), Chiaki Kuriyama (Battle Royale), Michael Parks (Blood Father), Jun Kunimura (The Wailing), Kazuki Kitamura (Blade of the Immortal), Bo Svenson (The Inglorious Bastards) and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction) and even Michael Jai White (Triple Threat), if you count deleted scenes.
Jackie Brown followed a flight attendant (Pam Grier) with a criminal past gets nabbed by the ATF for smuggling. Under pressure to become an informant against the illegal arms dealer (Samuel L. Jackson) she works for, she must find a way to secure her future without getting killed.
The film also showcased a star-studded cast that included Robert Forster (Vigilante), Bridget Fonda (Kiss of the Dragon), Michael Keaton (Batman), Robert De Niro (Goodfellas), Michael Bowen (Kill Bill Vol. 1) and Chris Tucker (Rush Hour).

As 4K UHD can hold more footage, it would be nice to have both volumes of Kill Bill on one disc and as one film so that there’s no changing of them. Maybe that’s another box set?
4K disc have 100gb capacity while regular 1080p blurays max out at 50gb….BUT since bandwidth is much larger for a 4k file, you actually have less space. Ever notice those 4k/bluray combos where the extras are never on the 4k disc and only on the regular bluray. As for the whole bloody affair official release, maybe one day when there’s a retrospective Tarantino boxset. Reservoir dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown and then Kill Bill. Thats a perfect run of movies reserved for the all time greats of cinema
For me, there is no WHOLE BLOODY AFFAIR without the extended animated bit where O-Ren terminates the Long Haired Dude with extreme prejudice. Only Boss Matsumoto got his just comeuppance. Somewhere out there, Long Hair is orphaning more little girls and that shit don’t sit right with me.
I bet a UK company will be releasing TWBA.
This is the most exciting news since the election results. Kill Bill has been my favorite movie for so long and I’ve been dying to get the 4k version of it. Streaming just isn’t the same quality. Kill Bill 2 is my true favorite overall because the acting, writing and music are so superior, but you can’t have 2 without the setup of 1. Plus that Oren scene with boss Tanaka is so iconic that even the apple show Sunny paid homage to it using that same actor. Tarantino is my favorite director prior to his last few horrible movies after D’jango, and darnit he deserves his movies to be in 4k.
Can’t wait to get my hands on them as well. Kill Bill Vol 1 was “my” Star Wars. One of the very few times I was actually moved in cinemas. Of course, I’m looking forward to Jackie Brown!!
One Upon a Time is his best film, clown.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is somehow better than Ingenious Basterds. It doesn’t make sense why but ONCE is truly a masterpiece. Really give it another go and make sure your watching with best tv and speakers it’s truly a marvel
I will keep that in mind next time I watch it.
NO details for Jackie brown revealed. Fix your deliberately misleading title.
Fixed. Though you’re 100% wrong about it being ‘deliberately’.
