I’m confused. I thought LG was giving it a theatrical release. Or is it a day-and-date type of deal?
This is the home video release date, according to the Lionsgate site itself. As far as I know, the film only got the Kevin Smith “tour” release and maybe some limited theatrical release. At first, we was supposed to distribute it himself (DVD/Blu-ray) under his own company, but I think he realized he needed the studios.
More likely, I’m guessing he realized not even the biggest KS fanboy’s willing to pay a $50 premium ticket for a friggin’ social commentary in this suckonomy.
I think Kevin Smith was trying to hard to fight the typical movie-distribution system and be somewhat of a leader of the process. Fail. I do want to see this movie though. Looks interesting.
