Peacock King | Blu-ray (88 Films)

On October 27, 2025, 88 Films is releasing a Blu-ray (Region B) for The Peacock King (aka Legend of the Phoenix), a 1989 action-fantasy from director Nam Nai Choi (The Story of Ricky, Saga of the Phoenix).

The Peacock King revolves around two magically powerful monks who are sent on a quest to fight the King of Hell.

The film features an all-star cast that includes Yuen Biao (Dreadnaught), Gloria Yip Wan Yi (Saga of the Phoenix), Pauline Wong Siu Fung (A Monstrous Corpse), Gordon Liu Chia Hui (Raiders of Buddhist Kung Fu), Eddie Ko Hung (The Sword), Philip Kwok Chung Fung (Ninja in Deadly Trap), Yuen Bun (Once Upon a Time in China IV) and Kara Hui Ying Hung (Mrs K).

      To me that cover seems like the artist was trying to cram way too much in both characters & colors into one image but I suppose in doing so it represents the movie pretty accurately! I’m really looking forward to this release! Saga of the Pheonix, on the other hand, well … you still can’t polish a turd, folks!
