Always bet on WHITE! Martial arts star Michael Jai White joins Taimak in the upcoming martial arts thriller ‘Paper Made’

Martial arts star Michael Jai White (Triple Threat, Accident Man) has joined the cast of Paper Made, an upcoming thriller from writer/director Ryan Watson (Paper Line).

The story centers on Tavon Watkins (Myles Truitt, Dragged Across Concrete), whose life takes a turn after a brutal hazing lands him inside an underground brotherhood of Black martial artists.

The film also marks the return of martial arts cult favorite Taimak (The White Girl), best known for his breakout role in the 1985 action classic The Last Dragon.

Headlined by Truitt, White and Taimak are part of an ensemble cast that includes Walter E. Jones (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers), Quartay DeNaya (Pizza Guys Vs Vampires), wrestlers Daria Rae Berenato and Jamara Garrett, aka Mara Sadé, and martial artists Sam Lee Herring (Gladiator Underground) and Jair Muhammad.

“Martial arts have been a part of the black American experience for generations and our film brings that excellence to the forefront from a perspective that has rarely, if ever, been seen in American cinema,” noted director Watson (via Deadline)

Paper Made is currently shooting in Tampa, Florida. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.

Until then, here’s the Trailer to Watson’s previous film, Paper Line, which was produced back in 2022 (our guess is that Paper Made is a remake of this):

  2. Christopher Bel says:

I miss those kind of movies got the 80s and 90’s were great

  3. Eric Brogden says:

I can’t wait to see Taimak back in action, I only know of 3 movies that he has stared in . He play a criminal in one movie.

  4. Gary R Reyes says:

Is he even in the trailer? Looks like a homemade movie that wanted to add Taimaks name to get some creditability. Love Taimak though. Watching The Last dragon Friday night with some first time viewers. Good times!

    • JJ Bona says:

      That’s not the trailer:

“Until then, here’s the Trailer for The Last Dragon, followed by the Trailer to Watson’s previous film, Paper Line, which was produced back in 2022 (our guess is that Paper Made is a bigger budget remake of Paper Line):”

  5. Andrew Hernandez says:

Marrese Crump and his son, Marcus have recently joined the cast. It would be great if he was also the action director.

Crump is hugely talented, but the movies haven’t shown him at his best. His fight scene with Dave Batista in Wrong Side of Town had too much choppy editing and the behind the scenes video of them rehearsing was a better fight.

Tom Yum Goong 2 was so underwhelming, that he vs Tony Jaa should have been just as big a deal as Lateef Crowder and Johnny Nguyen fighting Jaa, and that was a missed opportunity. He really needs to be right up there with the aforementioned names.

  6. Houston says:

My dreams have come true to see Michael Jai and Taimak act together in a film, can’t wait!
