Peter Pham, the indie martial arts star behind Foggy Mountain (as well as the Well Go USA/Hi-YAH! short Mayhem), is back Operation Crossbow, an upcoming actioner he also directs.
Pham not only stars, but also directs, with some help from Monsterface Productions, a production team that serves as the film’s associate producer, stunt coordinator, and writer.
The film also stars Ron Smorenburg (Triple Threat), Simon Kook (Ip Man 3), Keenan Williams, Randy Henrion, Cody Phillips, Michael Baker, Corey Cannon and Elle Gie.
Operation Crossbow comes to you by PB33 Production LLC, who have yet to set a release date. Until then, watch the film’s Trailer, followed by a making of featurette:
I wish Peter Pham took more of a Monkey Man approach to this, as the John Wick influence is too obvious. The trailer already shows too much, and it looks like he’s aping 87North’s choreography without the technical prowess. It simply doesn’t look original or disciplined.
He’s got the moves, and I want him to make cool movies, but Peter Pham is missing a certain something.
The John Wick influence is definitely getting old. First, it was people wearing swat uniforms (The Raid-sploitation); then it became tailored suits (John Wick-sploitation). Wonder what the next martial arts fad will be?
To be fair, suits were always cool and always will be. They just need to be changed up a bit, like a saffron suit!
lol actually, they should change it to Silver Tab Levis/Bugle Boy pants. Jean Jackets and cut off sleeves. Sorta like Loren Avedon’s clothes in KOTKB!
