RELEASE DATE: September 26, 2022
88 Films’ Deluxe Limited Collector’s Edition Blu-ray (Region B) for On the Run is now shipping from U.S. retailer Goodie Emporium.
This highly-anticipated release is a 1988 Hong Kong thriller directed by Alfred Cheung (Her Fatal Ways), and starring Yuen Biao (Zu: Warriors from Magic Mountain) and Pat Ha Man Jing (The Woman Knight of the Mirror Lake).
On the Run also features Charlie Chin (Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Stars), Lo Lieh (The Face Behind the Mask), Yuen Wah (Police Story 3: Supercop) and Philip Ko Fei (Dragon Blood).
On the Run is perhaps known best for providing Yuen Biao with his finest performance to date. His portrayal as the troubled moralistic cop is dead on, combining both superb restraint and expressive emotions. Ah Biao’s female counterpart, Pat Ha, gives a noteworthy acting job, and is completely believable as a cold and calculated hitwoman, only to have human feelings and emotions to get in the way of her career. Also appearing in supporting roles is veteran Taiwanese actor Charlie Chin, who co-stars as the corrupt superintendent, and fellow Peking Opera schoolmate Yuen Wah, who appears as one of his cronies.

This title is now available at The Goodie Emporium, a U.S.-based online store that currently has many Import Shaw Brothers/Golden Harvest/martial arts DVD/Blu-ray movies in-stock – with New titles being added regularly!
Do we know if this release will feature the “uncut” version, with the original ending? I hated the abrupt, ridiculous, no one who commits a crime can be seen getting away with it ending featured in the dvd release (at least the one I have).
Details are pending. Knowing 88 Films’ track record, I’m personally expecting all versions =)
I don’t know why, but I have never had any luck finding this title and am really looking forward to this release.
IMHO, one of the best 80’s Hong Kong movies of its kind.
And Yuen Biao has never been better as an actor.
88films dont even list it
They announce upcoming releases a little while before release, allow preorders about 2-3 weeks before release date, and ship about a week earlier.
