On May 26, 2024, MPI Home Video/Capelight is releasing the Blu-ray for The Roundup: No Way Out, the 3rd film in The Round Up franchise that started with 2017’s The Outlaws and 2022’s The Roundup (a subsequent 4th film is currently being prepped).

The first film – directed by Kang Yoon-Sung – was based on the true story of a 2007-era police operation that saw a sweeping round-up of gangs in the Guro District of Seoul. The second film marked the debut feature of newcomer Lee Sang-young.

For the third filmLee Sang-young is back in the director’s chair as he continues to tell the gritty action adventures of Lee’s beefed-up detective Ma Seok-do after he has joined the Regional Investigation Unit to face a new crime conspiracy. Korean leading man Lee Joon-hyuk (Along with the Gods) joins the franchise to play the new film’s villain, while Japanese actor Aoki Munetaka (Rurouni Kenshin) will co-star as a yakuza character named Riki (via THR).

Additional casts for the The Roundup: No Way Out include Lee Beom-su (Operation Chromite), Kim Min-jae (Peninsula), Jun Suk-ho (Miss Baek) and Ko Kyu-phil (Real).

    Both of these movies are great. The 3rd should be fun. Looks more of the same.

    I liked the second one. But the first is better…let’s say less “blockbusterish”.
