"Olympus Has Fallen" Theatrical Poster
Olympus Has Fallen (aka White House Taken) is an upcoming action film directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day) and starring Gerard Butler (Machine Gun Preacher), who plays a United States Secret Service agent who must stop Korean terrorists from taking over the White House and holding the President of the United States hostage. Also starring Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett, Dylan McDermott, Melissa Leo, Rick Yune, Ashley Judd and Robert Forster.
Note: Don’t confuse Olympus Has Fallen with Roland Emmerich’s similarly themed White House Down, which will be released June 28th, 2013. Olympus Has Fallen is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 22, 2013.

I see the potential for a fun, escapist action flick but the special effects look way, way unfinished. There’s no excuse for CGI as shoddy as some of the airplane and White House shots in that trailer. And the movie is coming out in just two months? That’s not nearly enough time to make the FX look respectable.
Sadly, I think the presence of Cole Hauser might be the kiss of death: the guy doesn’t star in anything but B-Movies.
This looks like the Red Dawn movie they would’ve made, if they had a budget.
Er, Red Dawn remake.
It’s essentially a remake of every action movie ever made.
It did give me a serious Under Siege vibe at times… “No offense, sir…but I’m the best chance you’ve got.”
All it needs is Gary Busey.
God help the next idiot who tells me an attack on Capitol Hill is some Hollywood Bullshit…..
