Veteran Hong Kong filmmaker Ching Siu-tung (The Raid, Duel to the Death, Belly of the Beast) is returning to the director’s chair with Jade Dynasty, his first film since 2011’s The Sorcerer and the White Snake.
According to AFS, Ching co-directs Jade Dynasty with fight choreographer Xiong Xin Xin (Double Team, Once Upon a Time in China IV).
The film stars Sean Xiao (Battle Through the Heavens), Li Qin (Princess Agents) and pop star Meng Meiqi (Step Up China).
Look out for Jade Dynasty’s domestic release on August 12th, 2019.
So it’s gonna be a wuxia movie? Hopefully?
It’s sad that if you’re a HK filmmaker and you want any kind of a budget you have to go and suck Mainland dick.
Hmm, too much CGI. We’re certainly a long way from the days of Duel to the Death, Swordsman 2, Dragon Inn, and the Zhang Yimou collaborations. Even The Duel from 2000 showed how live action can be combined with decent CGI that doesn’t over consume.
It’s sad that Hong Kong’s people watch 99% of American films and that OUTSIDE China 99% of the CHINESE movies are either not sold or just as Direct to DVD. Sad that if you work in the USA AND wanna get a budget you gotta suck Hollywood’s dick.
Unfortunately, this amazing movie not available in my country.. As before, i damn eigerly to watch it. I saw the fascinated trailer and also i’m a huge fans of Li Qin..
