A thematic sequel to Benny Chan’s 2021 actioner Raging Fire is currently in production from director Derek Kwok, who is perhaps best known for helming 2014’s As the Light Goes Out, 2015’s Full Strike, and the recent 2021 film, Schemes in Antiques.

The follow-up, titled The Unleashed Blaze (aka Raging Havoc), is headlined by Nicholas Tse (The Bullet Vanishes), who starred in the original Raging Fire (opposite Donnie Yen). This time around, Hong Kong heavy Andy Lau (White Storm 2: The Drug Lords) fills the space previously filled by Yen. Ray Liu (Raging Fire, Operation Bangkok) also returns, not to mention the addition of rising star Xie Miao (My Father is a Hero, Eye for an Eye: The Blind Swordsman, Ip Man: The Awakening).

The original film (read our review) revolved around a hardline cop (Donnie Yen) who goes up against his former protégé (Nicholas Tse).

I guess this is following in the footsteps of the White Storm and Chasing the Dragon movies where they tell different stories with the same actors.

It would be cool to have Nic Tse be the good guy this time around, and hopefully it keeps the same level of bombastic action.

  2. Dave says:

Raging Fire was one of the best movies I ever seen. I have it on DVD by Well Go USA in a very good release in original language and the english dubbed track too. Very good.

What are some of your other favorites, Dave? Let’s put your “Raging Fire was one of the best movies I ever seen” feedback into perspective! =)

This is different person, iwould like to give an aswer. 2000, Invisible Target, Promise &The Viral Factor. All awesom movies where Nick get to kick ass and show his acting talent. I read about the sequal for Gen X Cops movie, I hope Stephen or Nick can jump into the director chair or even both co direct the movi.

Can he have his own opinion? Or are you the only (paid) truth?

  3. Phil Chan says:

Andy’s had quite a few releases this past year huh. Moscow Mission, Goldfinger, I Did It My Way, Movie Emperor. Impressive work ethic as always, even though Goldfinger was the only one I sorta enjoyed (haven’t watched Movie Emperor yet). Also having facial hair made him look 10 years younger in this photo, only looks slightly older than Nicholas.
