A modern day take on Crippled Avengers? Not quite, but a good way to introduce Moritz Mohr’s Boy Kills Wold, an upcoming martial arts actioner starring Bill Skarsgård (John Wick: Chapter 4), Andrew Koji (Warrior), Sharlto Copley (Hardcore Henry) and Yayan Ruhian (The Raid, The Raid 2).

Produced by Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead), Boy Kills Wold features action choreography by Dawid Szatarski, who is perhaps best known for his work on Black Widow, Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Ong Bak 3.

Boy Kills World takes place in a bizarre, dark dystopian universe and centers on a deaf and mute character, Boy (Skarsgård), who navigates this depressing world with his otherworldly imagination. Tragedy strikes when Boy’s family is brutally murdered. When his fight or flight instincts kick in, Boy finds himself on a life-threatening trek into the darkly forested jungle. There, he meets a shaman (Ruhian) who takes Boy under his wing and launches him into a cutthroat coming of age journey where he encourages his new pupil to leave his youth behind and pick up the baton as a highly trained assassin.

Boy Kills World also stars Jessica Rothe (Happy Death Day), Isaiah Mustafa (Nikita), Famke Janssen (Taken), Brett Gelman (Stranger Things) and Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey).

Boy Kills World is being released by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions on April 26th. Watch the film’s latest Trailer below:

If Bill was capable of all this, why did they have to make his character in John Wick 4 such a weakling? (Not to mention a fraternal clone of Riccardo Scarmarcio’s character from Chapter 2)

Looks cool though. Wish Samara Weaving wasn’t replaced as she does really well in these roles.

This was good escapism for the weekend! Bill Skarsgard did a great job in the action scenes and showed a variety of techniques. Of course his fight scenes with Yayan Ruhian were the best as Yayan really got the best out of him.

Dawid Szatarski Is the fight choreographer here, and he’s been a part of Andy Long’s fight team, so he really knew his stuff and did a great job incorporating all the various martial arts we see. He’s also done fight choreography for The Kingsmen films and Manikarnika.

After Andrew Koji got to shine in Warrior, why does he keep getting shafted in the movies? Snake Eyes and Bullet Train wasted him, and while he plays a funny character here and gets to do a little bit of action, compared to the others, it wasn’t enough.

This year has been more generous with martial arts action than I thought it would be, and I’m glad the trend will continue.

watched the other day: if i wasn’t a sucker for both Yayan Ruhian and Jon Benjaimin i’d say the movie is overall mediocre, but indeed i am so i’ll say the movie is overall fun.
great start, then it drags quite poorly until the final scrap which is handled nicely, but it’s too little too late.

Not sure where it dragged since the action was so frequent. So much so, I welcomed it when there was a talking scene.
