  1. My favorite CYF flick is A Better Tomorrow. Sure, it has 1986 written all over it; but for its time, it was – and still is – a staple of Hong Kong cinema. Violence, heroic bloodshed, brothers on opposite sides of the law, Woo’s signature slow motion, etc. All of the sudden, fists and feet were replaced by guns and bullets. ABT even changed the face of “fashion” (could you believe that HK couldn’t keep up with the demand of trench coats and sunglasses; since everyone wanted to dress like Mark ‘Gor’ Lee?) That image of CYF lighting up that $100 bill is the perfect icon for Hong Kong action film.

  2. Chad Harry says:

With so many Iconic roles and movies. It is hard to pick but I will have to go against the grain and pick and more dramtic movie of his. CONFUCIUS. It is quite the touching movie. It showcases his talent in a more dramtic role and after seeing him portray Confucius. I can never see anyone else play the role. Great movie.

  3. Jason Williard says:

Favorite Chow Yun Fat film is Hard Boiled. This is the greatest action movie ever. Period! I thinks that’s all I have to say.

  4. Nicholas Gangloff says:

My favorite has to be “A Better Tomorrow,” as it was the first Chow Yun Fat film I had seen. My film professor introduced John Woo films to us, and this was the first time I was introduced to Chow Yun Fat. So personally, this is just one of my favorites because it introduced me to the entire market of Chow Yun Fat.

  5. Travis Else says:

HARD BOILED. The pinnacle of great action.

This CONFUCIUS talk is interesting. I own the movie, but never watched it…

  6. Ben says:

I think my favorite Chow Yun-Fat film is Hard Boiled. It pulls off good action without getting too cheesy in the process.

  7. Andrew says:

I’ll go with The Killer, it wasn’t as action packed Hard Boiled, but to me the Story was superior. A story of redemption and loyalty with heroic bloodshed.. Can’t beat this movie!!

  8. Matthew A. says:

My favorite Chow Yun-Fat film is Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. I love the martial art action, and has a great story.

  9. Derek Martinez says:

My favorite is Hard Boiled. It has great action and doesn’t get too dragged down in melodrama. Plus it has a Venom in it!

  10. Kyle Warner says:

Hard Boiled. It’s a brilliant action movie that’s endlessly rewatchable and features one of Chow’s most charismatic performances.

  11. Alan Tan says:

The Killer is one that comes to mind, the gun plays ballets is at its best.

  12. Nick says:

My favorite Fat movie hands down is Hard Boiled. Its a cliche choice, but there’s a reason for that, the movie has some of the best action of all time. The hospital scene, so awesome.

  13. Bruce says:

Hands down hard boiled! is my favorite yun fat movie . As a kid my friends and I would go to local swimming pool and jump into the pool sideways holding are hands as if we were dual wielding pistols. lol ……in stranglehold the video game sequel it was called tequila time 🙂

  14. Matthew S. says:

My favorite Chow Yun-Fat film is kind of a tie between The Killer and Hard Boiled. But if I have to choose one, I’d go with Hard Boiled. It’s simply Chow Yun-Fat’s and John Woo’s finest in my opinion. And some of the best “Bullet Ballet” action I’ve ever seen.

  15. Kiel F. says:

Though he’s been in objectively better films, the one that will always be at the top spot for me is A Better Tomorrow. The first heroic bloodshed movie I’d even seen at the tender age of 16, it blew me away. The gun play, the melodramatic brotherhood pathos, the setting. But what probably put it in my favorite movies of all time was Brother Mark. Chow Yun-Fat looked like he was having such a great time on-screen while still delivering some honestly moving scenes.
