Director Wong Jing (Return to A Better Tomorrow) is planning a Chasing the Dragon 3: Chinatown, which will be a follow up to his crime series that started with the 2017 Donnie Yen/Andy Lau thriller Chasing the Dragon.
Expect Chasing the Dragon 3: Chinatown be an unrelated, “by title-only” follow-up, similar to Wong’s 2019’s Chasing the Dragon II: Wild Wild Bunch, which was based on a real-life spate of kidnappings that terrorized Hong Kong’s elite in the 1990s, whereas the original Chasing the Dragon was based on real-life gangster Ng Sek-ho (aka Crippled Ho). SHK reveals that the third film will take place in New York’s Chinatown in 1963.
According to AFS, Donnie Yen (In the Line of Duty 4) and Louis Koo (Three) are in-talks to star in Chasing the Dragon 3: Chinatown, with Andy Lau (The Great Wall) being sought for a cameo.
At this point, we can potentially expect more Chasing the Dragon films to follow, with each one based on true crime stories. As always, we’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
I’m OK with that. I liked the second one too (Tony Leug Kar-fai was f… awesome in it).
