Great news for Hong Kong cinema fans, especially those who collect physical media from all over the world. Popular UK label Arrow has struck a deal with Shout! Studios to release Golden Princess Hong Kong titles in the UK.
The Golden Princess movie library consists of 156 Hong Kong cinema classics, many of which have been MIA from the market for years. In short, Arrow will be releasing Golden Princess’ titles digitally and physically in the UK, while Shout! Studios will be distributing the titles in the US.
The two labels’ releases will vary in terms of artwork – and possibly features and quality – but what’s most important for fans is they will now be able to pick which edition they prefer for their collection.
Titles included with the deal include Hard Boiled, The Killer, the complete A Better Tomorrow trilogy, Bullet in the Head and Once a Thief. The library also boasts Ringo Lam’s City on Fire, Prison on Fire and its sequel; Eric Tsang’s Aces Go Places; Tsui’s Peking Opera Blues; Tony Ching’s Chinese Ghost Story trilogy; and additional hits like Wai Ka-fai’s Peace Hotel, Andrew Kam and Johnnie To’s The Big Heat and Alex Law’s Now You See It, Now You Don’t (via Screen Daily).
We’ll keep you updated on Arrow’s release date lineup. Until then, here’s some selected Trailers from the Golden Princess’ library:
