After collecting dust for over 8 years, New Line’s U.S. remake of the 2010 Korean box office hit The Man From Nowhere is getting some leverage with the addition of Chad Stahelski (John Wick franchise), who has signed onto the remake as producer, along with his John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum ollaborator/writer, Derek Kolstad.
Deadline reports that Stahelski will produce with Jason Spitz through their 87Eleven Entertainment production banner. CJ E&M will also produce. Insiders say the execs are very high on the script that Kolstad just delivered and plan on meeting with directors for the job as Stahelski is not expected to direct.
In Lee Jeong-beom’s original film, Won Bin (Guns & Talks) played an ex-secret agent who raced against time to save his little girl neighbor after she was kidnapped by a vicious drug ring.
We’ll keep you up to speed as we learn more. For now, here’s the Trailer for original film:
Won Bin wasn’t in No Tears for the Dead, was he? In any case, this guy needs to make a comeback.
No, he wasn’t. Where did you hear that? 😉
LOL!
Not for me. I’ll keep the original. Hollywood has already done enough rip-offs of The man from nowhere and A bittersweet life, thanks. South Korean cinema, already the New Hollywood cash cow.
