According to Danny Trejo himself, the long-rumored Machete Kills Again…in Space, which was featured as a parody trailer in 2013’s Machete Kills, may actually see the light of day.
In an interview with HDN, the Machete star had this to say: “Robert (Rodriguez) and I are going to start to do Machete Kills in Space, so that’s going to be awesome. Absolutely. We’re going to be working on it this year.”
If there’s any truth to the Machete Kills Again…in Space parody trailer, here’s a list of potential new and returning co-stars: Michelle Rodriguez, Alexa PenaVega, Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga and Leonardo DiCaprio.
With Rodriguez, anything is possible. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more!
I guess Rodriguez wasn’t bullshitting on these sequels. If all goes as planned by the 3rd movie we’ll be seeing Machete in space.
I just hope the sequel’s not DTV.
Honestly, the first “Machete” left me feeling like I’d just taken $10 and burnt it on the ground. Not sure I’d be up for a sequel.
What did you expect? A spaghetti western? The trailer should of told you enough of what kind of film Machete is. I’m a big fan of Rodriguez and I enjoyed the film and I personally can’t wait for another and I don’t give a shit about the immigrant thing or whatever, it’s just a fucking movie made for entertainment. I know Rodriguez won’t pull no bullshit PG13 shit like Sly did with EX2, no selling out here.
I think that’s most people’s problem with Machete: the trailer was better than the movie. I respect Rodriguez but at the same time I think the guy has been resting on his laurels since “Sin City.” He doesn’t do anything to try to push the envelope or evolve his cinematic technique – guys like Tarantino and Fincher have long passed him by.
Instead we get something like Machete, which you pay your money to see only to find out that Rodriguez only co-directed it. The film felt painfully low-budget, even for a b-movie, and suffered from fake looking CG blood and gore. Rodrigeuz seemed way too impressed with b-players like Lindsay Lohan and Don Johnson instead of giving more screentime to Danny Trejo.
It just wasn’t that funny or entertaining. If brevity is the soul of wit, Machete worked when it was just a 2 minute trailer…that’s all it needs to be funny. Try to extend it to 90 minutes and it becomes really tired.
Rodriguez if filling the gap with these kinds of films. No one else in hollywood is doing cool R rated films like this anymore. This kind of filth is my kind of tea, and I hope there is a Planet Terror 2.
To each his own I say. Not a cinematic master piece, but low budget fun. Though not Rodriguez’s best, I enjoyed the film as a whole. It entertained me at the time, for me the film did it’s job.
Does the world need another Machete seriously what a waste of film. This is coming from a Mexican BTW.He likes to stereotype Latin people.Produce another Predators movie Rodriguez
Rodriquez is Latin, and Dan Trejo is his uncle.
Attention folks…got an update from IMDB
Tony Jaa rumored for Machete 2!
No problemo guys. I try and pass along the info when I find it!
Tony Jaa in a Machete movie is like getting a blowjob by that one space chick with the 3 boobs from Total Recall… Please let it be true, please!!!!!
If it’s true we can give thanks to Rodriguez for introducting Tony Jaa to the hollywood audience. Honestly I don’t think any other director in hollywood would of gave Tony a chance in their movies.
According to IMDB Mel Gibson is now a rumored starring cast member!!!
I kind of assumed they’d bring back Alba and Rodriguez, I was just shocked about Mel Gibson since he’s been outkast from hollywood, and now Rob Rodriguez is reeling him in like a fish that’s been washed ashore.
They’ve already signed on Michele Rodriguez, and Jessica Alba is on the brink to signing on as well.
On Machete 2, Rodriguez says not to believe what you’re read online. “That synopsis we put out is misdirection — it’s all fake. Machete is recruited by the President, that’s true, but there’s no cartel leader and the weapon in space is just one of our early story ideas. That said, there is still a space element, for sure. We’ve given the character a much bigger playground. It’s going to be like a James Bond movie, with a Bond-style villain.”
That villain, of course, will be played by Mel Gibson, whom Rodriguez has known for years. “Mel’s just a badass,” Rodriguez grins. “We have the same attorney and we’ve talked over the years about stuff we’re making. This won’t just be him grinning, doing bad-guy stuff. He’s going to do something with it that’ll really get people talking.”
Dr. No meets Gibbo? This could get weird…
Jeez, how many chicks is Rodriguez gonna add? This is becoming charlie’s angels.
I don’t know if I like or hate RR’s flicks. Not since Faculty, From Dusk Til Dawn and El Mariachi…. I just haven’t cared for any of his movies. I guess he’s alright. =D
Now it’s gonna officially suck. But maybe RR will be able to make something fun out of it, anyway.
Ok, it’s officially jumped the shark by adding Lady Gaga.
No different than Lindsay Lohan or Jessica Alba in my opinion.
Except Lohan and Alba already have experience on the b-movie circuit, while Gaga in Machete Kills just makes me think of Gene Simmons in Never Too Young to Die.
At least Rodriguez gets to direct the sequel unlike the first one.
Um, he did direct the first one….
He did not direct the whole movie. He directed about 25% of the first one.
Rodriguez brought in a co-director (his longtime editor Ethan Maniquis).
because he was off doing other things at the time. He wanted to make sure Machete 2 was a better movie that’s why he’s taking full control as director with this sequel.
Why are you a fag? Lady Gaga will look good in this Roberto Rodriguez film mastapeace boyee!!!
IMDB also confirms Cuba Gooding, Jr. in the cast.
Rodriguez likes mixing different races together to work as a team agains a common goal.
Seems a bit more gimmicky, but it still appears to have the same sense of humor as the last film.
if only all women can do that with their titties… shoot ya if u try to touch them.
If you watch a Machete trailer it will give away half of the movie, so I am going to hold off and wait and see it in the theater so I’ll be surprised.
