RELEASE DATE: November 8, 2011
Well Go USA’s newest release is a Korean remake of one of the most influential movies to come out of Hong Kong. This new film stars Kim Gang-Woo’s (Marine Boy), Joo Jin-Mo’s (Musa) and Jo Han-Seon and directed by Song Hae-Seong (Failan). Check out the trailer and read our review.
Note: Despite what the Amazon links say, this is the remake and not John Woo’s 1986 film, as noted at Well Go USA’s official site.
When you first told me this, I also thought you meant Well Go USA was putting out the original, lol. Well, it will be cool to see the remake.
No, that’s what I thought too. Then I went to Well Go’s website to double check and saw that they had the trailer for the 2010 Korean remake. As my note says, Amazon has the info messed up. Either that or Well Go has the wrong trailer up, which I totally doubt.
Looking at Well Go’s track record, it makes more sense that they’re releasing the ‘new’ film, and not the original. Anyways, I emailed Well Go about this… I could see this causing some serious problems, especially for people who want to pre-order it. lol
I could swear there was also a 90s HK remake, but I might be mistaken?
Nah, considering Well Go USA’s track record…I don’t think they’ve released a single film made before 2000. They’re all about new titles. It makes sense for them to release this remake. I’m looking forward to it.
And ningen, I think there was Wong Jing rip-off/semi-sequel called “Return to a Better Tomorrow” around 1994 with Ekin Cheng.
Yeah, that’s the one. Though I heard a rumour in the late 90s of a remake.
I’m lukewarm on this release. I love the original and not that thrilled about seeing the remake.
Don’t forget that Well Go USA has released some of the Shaw Brothers films (last Web of Death) so they have released films before 2000 :D. Plus I believe DD still has the rights to A Better Tomorrow (1,2,3).
