A third follow-up to Netflix’ action film franchise – following 2020’s Extraction and this year’s Extraction 2 – has received a green light from the popular streaming company.

Extraction and Extraction 2 director Sam Hargrave (Unlucky Stars) and leading star Chris Hemsworth (Thor) made the announcement at Netflix’s Tudum event on Saturday, following the June 16 premiere of Extraction 2 (via Variety).

Collectively, the films co-starred Golshifteh Farahani (Extraction), Adam Bessa (Extraction), Daniel Bernhardt (The Matrix Resurrections), Sinead Phelps (Carnival Row), Tinatin Dalakishvili (The Undeclared War), Justin Howell (The Man from Toronto), Golshifteh Farahani (Body of Lies), Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) and Idris Elba (Beast). There’s currently no word on which stars will return for Part 3.

So what can we expect from Extraction 3? Only time will tell. But you can’t deny the series deserves its place in the ranks of The Raid and John Wick, which are two, groundbreaking action franchises the Extraction films were influenced by.

For now, Extraction 2 (read our review) is currently streaming Netflix. We’ll keep you updated on Extraction 3 as we learn more.

I expected better from the film critics who accuse Extraction of being a “white savior” movie. That designation is garbage as far as I’m concerned, and it’s often used to label the wrong movies. Why can’t the film just be about a guy rescuing a kid, and leave it at that.

I’m all in favor of a sequel or prequel. Especially if the Russos believe in it.

Agreed with you. Looking forward to part 2. Excellent movie. A lot of reviewers didn’t know what the heck they were talking about with all the negative reviews.

    • Andrew says:

absolutely agreed with you Andrew, these over-politicizations of simple, enjoyable actioners are so unnecessary and dumb, just enjoy the fucking film as it is, jesus !

    • Ska Martes says:

Thor saves 1 kid, not a whole people. Something like Avatar is pure white savior fantasy

This movie is awesome. Can’t wait for the prequel or sequel…

Gonna say, found the first one rather dull. The script was also aggravating in how stone faced it was. Hemsworth has some physical presence but no personality, no grit. Without Marvel’s funny quips he’s empty. He’s not convincing as someone who’s seen some shit, or has had to struggle much in life. It’s what keeps him from being a great action hero like the ones from the 80s, even though he very much looks the part. This has nothing to do with race btw, I think Frank Grillo and even Gerard Butler are much closer to the guys we all love from long ago.

The action was pretty great in parts, especially that early knife fight rescue. Didn’t like the oner. I’ll watch the sequel anyway since what else am I gonna do?

the first film was great and from this trailer I can see that the direction and the director continue to have fun with the camera in hand. this is going to be great

  5. Andrew Hernandez says:

It’s being talked about that there’s a 20 minute one take action scene, but I think it’s going to be another disguised one take like in the previous movie.

I think the jig is up. We all have an idea of where the disguised cuts are in scenes like this, and it’s become overdone. Legit one take action scenes are already really hard, and that’s even when you have simplified choreography like in Tom Yum Goong’s stairway sequence where Tony Jaa is doing relatively less complicated moves to take down opponents in one or two hits. You can tell it’s less intricate than in the rest of the movie.

And of course Crazy Samurai Musashi proved that it’s impossible to do a full feature like that and make it entertaining.

This is going to be popular on Netflix as John Wick series out in the theaters.
