RELEASE DATE: January 19, 2021

Martial arts star Scott Adkins (Ip Man 4, SeizedThe Debt Collector, Incoming) is taking a second trip to space in Well Go USA’s Max Cloud (aka The Intergalactic Adventures of Max Cloud) a sci-fi actioner that hits VOD on December 18, 2020, then arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on January 19, 2021.

Directed by Martin Owens (Let’s Be Evil) and written by Sally Collet (Twist), Max Cloud centers on Sarah, a gamer who finds an “easter egg” and accidentally opens a portal into her favorite side-scroller. She then becomes trapped in a notorious intergalactic prison, home to the galaxy’s most dangerous villains. To escape, she must finish the game with a little help from her not-so-savvy friend on the outside…or remain a 16-bit character forever.

Adkins stars along with Tommy Flanagan (Sons of Anarchy), Lashana Lynch (No Time to Die), Elliot James Langridge (Killers Anonymous), John Hannah (The Hurricane) and Jason Maza (Brotherhood).

  1. Felix says:

Had no idea Adkins awas doing this.

  2. Aerosniff Someglue says:

Looks gorgeous. Another cult classic for the best actor of his generation.

  3. The Bothan Spy says:

    Dear Aerosniff,

The Bothan Spy Network tells me you are a failed action hero yourself, thus the endless disdain for Scott Adkins…as for someone you don’t care about, you seem destined to constantly fall to your knees like a cartoon character and go “curses Mr Adkins! that should have been a role for me!” whenever any news ref his involvement in a project is posted

    Just wondering!

  4. Mike Retter says:

Gladiator ready? Challenger ready? 3,2,1 …

  5. Aerosniff Someglue says:

Scott sucks. I have everything: I put on shame the greatest (Scott included), I have a discrete charm (Scott looks like the usual Occidental action guy: a bull in heat). If I had the money he gives to cityonfire…

  6. Aerosniff Someglue says:

“The Bothan Spy Network tells me”

A spy who tells himself precious informations… Well, at least it stays a secret!

  7. Mike Retter says:

I maintain, Adkins is lousy, Hes not even a Dudikof. Not a Lundrgren left-foot.

  8. Mike Retter says:

Whats with all the manufactured Adkins drama? It has to be manufactured, its Adkins, nobody cares! Oh my!

  9. Mike Retter says:

    I hate Scott Adkins.

    • Mike Retter says:

Hate is a strong word… I dislike all of Scott Adkins contributions to cinema as a persona, while not being against his martial arts ability. Its just boring to watch that ability when there is no charisma attached.. Its like buying DVDs of martial arts demonstrations.. Something I just dont do.

  10. Mike Retter says:

This is the kind of thing that just makes me depressed and I go watch Deadly Bet for the 15th time.

    • KayKay says:

As a Wincott fan myself, I’m merely curious why you’d choose the tonally uneven Deadly Bet rather than the far superior Mission of Justice as the panacea for your Adkins-inspired depression

      • Mike Retter says:

Tonally uneven? I tend to think Deadly Bet is one of the best told stories in straight to video martial arts cinema. Its as perfect as PM entertainment gets in that regard.. The noir tale is just redemptive, thats all. I seem to remember Mission Of Justice mostly centers around a couple of fine set-pieces, but its hardly a story we can remember fondly… Legend has it Wincott came to the set on the day of the gauntlet scene with no choreography and basically just did it.

        • KayKay says:

Tonally uneven because I enjoyed the Wincott Does Underground Fighting bits (which is all I needed) but wasn’t enamored with all that domestic crap between him and that chick from Dallas shoe-horned in. I have a limited tolerance level for Redemption Arcs AKA Asshole Spends 80 mins Clawing Out Of A Pit He Dug, to say nothing of one where the “hero” puts up his girlfriend as “collateral”for a match??

Give me the nobility and purity of purpose of a Lyon in Lionheart who risks disgrace and capture to fight in underground matches to give his sis-in-law and niece a better life or an Isaiah Bone who fights to pry a late cell-mate’s wife from the clutches of a creep and reunite her with her daughter. That’s shit I can get behind.

Mission of Justice is Wincott served up straight, had great action and Brigitte Nielsen at her absolute Ice Queen Statuesque Badness and Matthias Hues as her henchman, not to mention one surreal scene that had me convinced Jeff Wincott’s in the Rocky universe when Drago’s wife and Apollo’s Trainer face off in a boxing gym! What’s not to like?

I’d actually re-watch Wincott’s Last Man Standing (doomed to forever be confused with a Bruce Willis Yojimbo remake) before Deadly Bet.

          But hey…to each his own.

          • Mike Retter says:

Maybe give Deadly Bet another watch.. It works better than Last Man Standing, which is more ambitious in scale, but a narrative mess and probably lacking a punchy conclusion. Deadly Bet does have an absurd plot in terms of putting his wife up as collateral, but they handle that stuff really well considering… Well I like a redemption arch, so maybe we will just differ there.. I like Mission Of Justice too and actually want to get my hands on a legit copy to watch it again.. But I seriously suggest giving Deadly Bet another glance.

  11. Mike Retter says:

Nobody can disprove the Scott Adkins / irreverence of B-martial arts movies correlation.

  12. Mike Retter says:

At least Gary Daniels is farcical.

  13. Mike Retter says:

Paul Bramhall has a Scott Adkins scrapbook.

  14. Mike Retter says:

I’m only ever gona do this once.. I’m making all these inspired wisecracks so this article has a ridiculous amount of comments (sorry ed) so that people go “oh, this is getting some attention, I’ll go take a peek” … And then they see this … The pictures and clip ….

  15. Dan Hagen says:

I’d like to watch this movie, but only as long as Mike Retter is in the room with me, so I can see his reactions. If I record the whole ordeal and it becomes a viral hit then I think we may have a new Youtube series on our hands.

  17. Dan Hagen says:

That’s a great trailer. And the movie’s coming out just in time for Christmas, which makes this a perfect holiday gift. In fact, I think I know someone who would be absolutely ecstatic to find this movie under their tree – for anonymity’s sake, we’ll just call him Mike R. Or, wait, no, let’s just call him M. Retter. Gotta keep it a surprise!

  18. Paul says:

When will SciFi movies grow up and stop being parodies of what Hollywood would like to have us watch. 2001:A Space Odssey was the last real Science Fiction movie. Hand puppets and plastic makeup , aliens do not make.
