Everything You Need to Do After a Motorcycle Accident

More than 80,000 motorcycle injuries occur in the United States each year.

Now, 80,000 may seem small compared to the millions of injuries that car crashes result in. However, riders face higher risks of getting injured after a motorcycle accident. For instance, in 2019, they were four times more likely to sustain injuries than car occupants.

For those reasons, it’s vital to know what to do following a motorbike accident. We listed the key steps you need to take in this guide, so be sure to read on.

Check Yourself for Injuries

Traumatic experiences, such as an accident, can lead to a temporary superhuman-like strength. This is a bodily reaction triggered by fight-or-flight hormones. It can make you feel numb enough that you may think you don’t have any injuries.

So, as soon as the initial shock of the accident wears off, check if you have any injuries. If you’re steady enough to walk, see if anyone else involved in the crash needs medical assistance. Call emergency help if you or anyone else has severe injuries, has fainted, or is unresponsive.

Report to the Police

Most US states have specific thresholds for reporting road accidents to the police. These are usually based on the estimated amount of property damage. All states require immediate reporting for incidents that result in injuries and death.

Twelve states, such as Alabama and Florida, have a $500 property damage threshold. California and seven others set this at $1,000. A few, including Nevada and Ohio, require police reporting for all crashes.

With that said, it’s always a good idea to call the police while you’re still at the scene of the crash. Even if you’re not required to, the police can help by giving you instructions on the next steps you should take.

Swap Insurance Details With the Other Motorists

Ask the other motorists to show you their driver’s license and auto insurance card. The law requires most US motorists to carry both, so there’s no reason for the other drivers not to show them to you. Copy their personal, contact, and insurance information as shown on the documents.

If the other driver doesn’t want to, they may be an unlicensed or uninsured motorist. This is another good reason to call the police, as they can tell you what to do and how to deal with an uninsured driver.

Collect Photographic Evidence and Witness Statements

Take as many photos and videos of the scene before you leave. It’s a good idea to take and record statements from witnesses, too. You should also get in touch with your insurance provider for further instructions.

Go in for a Medical Check-Up

Once you leave the scene, your next stop should be a medical clinic or your doctor’s office. Do this even if you feel okay or only have a minor motorcycle accident injury. Remember: accidents can cause hidden injuries, such as sprains, strains, and brain injuries.

By seeing a doctor right after your accident, you can catch such injuries early on. You can get prompt treatment before they develop into chronic conditions. Besides, you’ll need to show medical records once you file an insurance claim.

Take These Steps Right After a Motorcycle Accident

Calling the police and seeing a doctor are the most crucial things to do after a motorcycle accident. The first one could prove vital to your insurance claim or in case you decide to file a lawsuit. The second is necessary for your health, as the accident may have resulted in hidden injuries.

Making the list of the top 21 gambling movies

How was the list of the top 21 gambling movies of all time compiled?

Research blends mean scores from top movie review sites IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes to offer up a total result. This number is then looked at with reference to the score achieved by other flicks to make a league of the 21 top gambling movies.

The Top 21 Gambling Movies: Best of the rest

Before we unveil the winner, let’s look at some movies that didn’t make the top three.

One of our personal favourites is Casino (1995), a movie that clocked in at fifth on the list of the top 21 best movies with a score of 80.5%. A modern classic from Scorsese looking at the life of Samuel ‘Ace’ Rothstein, this film is beloved for its epic script, amazing clothes and a stunning central cast of Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone.

Gambling movies such as Ocean’s Eleven, The Colour of Money and The Hangover placed highly in the list of the top 21 gambling movies too, though there will be some unhappy that their movie didn’t win!

The Best 3 of the Top 21 Gambling Movies

Many were unsurprised to see that the number one film was Casino Royale (2006), clocking in with a result of 87%. Ushering in a new era, this movie includes what many enthusiasts agree is the definitive Bond gambling scene as Craig fights with Mads Mikkelsen’s villainous Le Chiffre at the poker table in a high-stakes game. Adored by Bond aficionados everywhere as a modern classic in the series, Casino Royale offers everything you could want from a 007 flick and a gambling movie.

Mr Lucky (1943) came in second, a classic directed by H.C. Potter with Cary Grant in the lead role. Whilst not as well known among younger cinephiles, this movie is nonetheless a worthy contender for the best gambling movie of them all.

Third was Rounder (1998), a slick movie with a golden cast of Matt Damon, Ed Norton and John Malkovich. Beloved by cinema fans, this may be somewhat less well known than others on our list, but Rounder is still a high-class casino film that is worth a watch!

Running Time: 92 min.

By Paul Bramhall

Crazy Samurai Musashi is one of those movies that’s journey to the screen is just as interesting as the movie itself, spanning over 10 years before it eventually arrived in 2020. Initially announced as a collaboration between Japanese action icon Tak Sakaguchi (here once more billed as Tak ∴, as he was in Re:Born) and auteur director Sono Sion in 2009, Blood of the Wolves was intended to be a genre mash-up containing elements of chanbara, kung fu, monsters, and zombies. The pairing of Japan’s leading action star and most distinctive director was an exciting one, however 2 years later there was still no sign of it, and in 2011 it was announced the project was now going under the name Kenkichi.

By this point Takaguchi and his stunt team had been training for a year so that they could execute what was planned to be an ambitious 10-minute single take action scene. While Sion had been attached to Blood of the Wolves in the capacity of scriptwriter, by the time Kenkichi came around he was credited as being co-director along with Sakaguchi himself. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way Sion dropped out, and the production was left with a leading man and action Continue reading

Stories about washed up boxers have been around for almost as long as cinema itself, and the Korean movie industry is no exception. A year prior to the latter, in 2018 Keys to the Heart hit the screen, featuring Lee Byung-hun in the role of a washed-up boxer who re-connects with his estranged mother.
