Luc Besson (Lucy), who co-wrote and produced all three of the Taken movies, is producing a Taken TV series for NBC.

According to Deadline, the series will be a prequel to the movies and will reference Bryan Mills’ “particular set of skills” that he “acquired over a very long career.” Since the series is an origin story, we assume that Liam Neeson will not be reprising his role as Mills.

The upcoming Taken series is not the first time a Besson production made its way to the small screen. In the past, Besson’s La Femme Nikita (1990) and Transporter (2002), were also adapted to TV.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.

So Taken is basically the action movie fan’s answer to Home Alone?

Boy, they’re going to ride this cashcow until the balls come off. Taken 2 by the way was pretty lame. Nowhere near as good as the first and while Liam Neeson is cool, I just don’t see how they can keep making the same thing over and over again, unless they go in the direction that Death Wish did, mainly throwing out any pretense at suspense and just have Neeson take a chain gun and shoot everything at moves. I think at this stage, this is what must be done.

For the next movie how about “Takem All – Please”

  4. Casey says:

Wow… seriously? Actually the first “Taken” is good enough for one movie already. “Taken 2”? Basically a rehash of the first one, and a crappy sequel as well especially the way the movie was framed with shaky cam and choppy editing…
