Wow. That is not nearly as good as the interpretive dance scene in SHOGUN’S NINJA!
Only thing that comes to mind is W T F?!?!?
being a ninja is like being a dancer, a deadly, deadly stealth dancer.
Bravo! What an innovative and beautiful way to express the inner grace, the physical dexterity, and perfection of the hero’s ninja techniques! I am standing and applauding (as I always do while watching this sequence) as I type this. I know I’m not alone when I say that outright ciema classics… milestones in film history, like FOOTLOOSE (the original), FLASH DANCE, and STAYING ALIVE could only have been improved by the inclusion of Sho Kosugi’s ninjitsu ballet.
I will never give up my search for the print of the film that includes an extended opening sequence where Sho dismembers the dancers in slow-motion (obviously to representing the fragility of each part of nature, and every living thing’s fleeting “mark” upon the universe). I’ve heard rumor that there may still be a Beta-max tape of this version in a little movie rental store in Yugoslavia. My flight is booked…
Staying Alive lol Remember that guy with the beard with his pants tucked in his boots? “If you’re finished dancing, step off the stage!”
I know you can’t see this, but I’m performing my own interpretive dance in response to the interpretive dance in the video. Through my interpretive dance I’m conveying hurt, confusion, and ultimately hope.
LOL
You’re slippin. You used to be the first one to post. 🙂
I know lol =P
I really need to get on the ball!
You can’t top a ninja dance like that, girls keep on dancing, ninja keep on slicing
Sho Kosugi: 80’s Sex Icon
I think you posted the wrong video. I was expecting “9 Deaths of the Ninja” and, instead, it took me to a deleted scene from “Black Swan.”
I can understand why it found its way to the cutting room floor though. Natalie Portman looks pretty rough here…and I have no idea why she’s wielding a sword.
Richard Simmons and Sonny Chiba got together to make a workout tape.
I think the song might be the best part of that clip. And that isn’t saying much LOL.
My first impression was foxy looking chick dancers! And I thought that the Asian dude should have dropped his act, and his weapon, and gathered with those girls! ..the view would have been better up close!
It’s an imitation of the introduction in most of the Shaw Brothers’ kung fu movies back in the 70’s and 80’s that shot inside the studio (remember Gordon Liu’s movies?)… except that it does not have the sound effect but the slow ballet dancing song and smoke effect with the James “the Ninja” Bond. I don’t know what to make of it.
These clips just keep getting weirder and weirder… no guy eating ice cream while sitting on top of someone doing pushups this time tho? lol
And they’ll get even weirder. After awhile, having a question like “Comment on what your favorite martial arts movie to qualify for a Blu-ray giveaway” gets so old. Besides, all your guys’ answers crack me up! 🙂
so now we finally find out where dance battles started from.
I see hot chicks in spandex doing interpretive dance with some dude with a katana…. I assume he’s a ninja. Two thumbs up!
It’s like a James Bond opening…but with a ninja!
Like orange juice and sushi, ballet and martial arts training just fit so well together.
Wait… There are dancers in the opening….. All I saw was Sho Kosugi awesomeness!!!!! ninjas have never been the same since. Lol
Sexy women in leotards dance around a katana wielding warrior while evocative lyrics play over the scene. Francis Ford Coppola should have considered this sequence to introduce Martin Sheen’s character, Willard, in Apocalypse Now. Really, was this the imagery Sheen had in mind when he punched out the mirror?
Dancing ladies and slicing blades! Never seen much like it!
Apparently Sho Kosugi always wanted to be James Bond. Theme song n’ all. All that’s missing is the quality.
No Interpretive Dancers were harmed during the filming of this movie
Sneaky sneaky dancy dancy
