Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker (and Mike Tyson) in high gear for ‘Rush Hour 4’?

For the last 10 years, both Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker (Rush Hour 1-3) have kept the possibility of a Rush Hour 4 in the air. But now, the 4th installment of the successful action comedy is a lot closer to reality than ever, at least according to Jackie himself.

Jackie made a rare on-stage appearance at last year’s Red Sea Film Festival, where he told fans that he is currently in talks to make a fourth Rush Hour movie. “We’re talking about part 4 right now,” he told the festival crowd, adding that he was going to meet with the film’s director this evening to discuss the script. He did not identify said director, but American filmmaker Brett Ratner directed all three previous versions (via Deadline).

Jackie also mentioned that former Undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the world, Mike Tyson (Ip Man 3, Kickboxer: Retaliation), would appear in Rush Hour 4.

In 2017, Warner cut ties with Ratner, due to sexual harassment and misconduct accusations towards the filmmaker by several women, so it’s a safe bet that a different director will be taking over the franchise.

Back in March of 2019, there were also reports (via That Hashtag Show) that STX Studios was developing a female-centric Rush Hour film, which would have had The Meg co-star Bingbing Li (Zhong Kui: Snow Girl and the Dark Crystal) as one of the leads, but we’re assuming plans fizzled due to panned female-centric, rebooted franchise failures, particularly 2016’s Ghostbusters.

We’ll keep you posted on Rush Hour 4 news as we hear more.

Oh gawd I can see it now…..

    Bingbing Li and………………………………….Leslie Jones……………… O_O

  2. Mardy says:

I would pay money to see Li Bing Bing and Zazie Beetz. Not even joking.

    • Andrew Hernandez says:

That would be a great pairing!

I could see the producers going with Carter played by Jones or Tiffany Haddish for better or worse. One has to wonder if there’d be a rehash of the old jokes or obnoxious “millennial” humor.

Sometimes I feel like the producers are trying to revive this franchise like a kid taping a dead animal back together. Rush Hour 3 took too long to come out and was mediocre, and the TV series was canceled before it was aired.

Like I said in the Facebook post, More Ocean’s 8 and less Ghostbusters 2016.

  3. Ska Martes says:

As long as its not Rush Hour 2. The escort selection scene/ ETD homage was pure cringe. I much preferred the schoolboy humor of RH3

  4. Andrew Hernandez says:

Man, I forgot that I commented on this a long time ago. My opinion still stands.

  5. Bruce says:

No thanks. Jackie is too old! Sorry, it’s true, hell, he was past his physical prime when the first Rush Hour was made! I enjoyed the first two, the third wasn’t completely unwatchable, but it’s been too many years, unless Lee & Carter will be fighting crime in a retirement home! Yeah, they could start fresh with a new, younger cast but how did that work out with that short-lived TV series? No thanks …

Wheelchair racings and walking sticks fights. I’m in!
