And you thought South Korean martial arts films were dead!? Lee Seung-won’s debut film, Revenger (read our review), sees the return of super kicker Bruce Khan (Bridal Mask) in his first starring role since 2005’s The Last Eve.
Khan – who is perhaps best-known for his stunt/choreography work on films such as Beat, Gen-Y Cops and The Medallion – plays a man who heads out to Sura Island to locate those responsible for murdering his family.
Revenger also stars Park Hee-Soon (The Suspect), actress Yoon Jin-Seo (Old boy) and Kim In-Kwon (Tazza: The Hidden Card).
Catch the film’s Newest Trailers below, ahead of its December domestic release. U.S. audiences can watch Revenger streaming on Netflix on January 15th.
Kicktastic! Bruce has some exceptional fight skills and is one hell of a superkicker, looking forward to seeing his return to action
I know it’s cliche now to say an action movie is like The Raid, but it seems like Korea wants to compete with Indonesia now.
This looks very different from Arahan, Man on High Heels, or Man From Nowhere, but I like how it looks so far.
I was talking to the fight choreographer of ‘Revenger’, Yang Tae-yul, about this flick today. Apparently it’s going to be an exclusive to Netflix Korea, which will hopefully mean it’ll start showing up on other countries Netflix subscriptions at some point in the new year. In any case, it looks like an unpretentious action romp, so count me in.
Considering how much Korean stuff is on American Netflix, it’d be terrible for this not to be included!
Netflix is killing it with international films. I’m all about physical media, but you can’t deny Netflix makes it more convenient (too convenient, at times).

Nice bit of action. Seems influenced by Oldboy as well. I wonder why he has the Hannibal Lecter getup though.

When will it be in DVD
As far as I’m aware Netflix has global distribution rights for this one, including Korea, so in all likelihood there won’t be a DVD. Check out our full review for ‘Revenger’ here.
