On December 18, 2020, CMC Pictures is finally releasing The Rescue (aka Emergency Rescue) to U.S. theaters. This big budget thriller is directed by noted Hong Kong action director Dante Lam (Operation Red Sea).
In the film, a rescue unit within the Chinese Coast Guard are forced to overcome their personal differences to resolve a crisis.
The Rescue (read our review) reunites Lam with his To the Fore, Unbeatable and Operation Mekong star, Eddie Peng (Call of Heroes, Cold War II).
The lavish production also features Oscar-winning cinematographer Peter Pau (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Hollywood production designer Martin Laing (Terminator Salvation).
Don’t miss the film’s latest Trailer below:
Looks like an upgraded “Operation Red Sea.” Hope Director Lam retained his creative crew from red sea. The action choreo, colouring and music were amazing. Looking forward.
And next, a mega mega budget about a team of heroic firefighters?
I think they already have that. We didn’t report it at COF, but here is the trailer… http://video.mtime.com/75043/?mid=261999
Actually Dante’s next film is a patriotic Chinese war film starring Wu Jing. Though he’s only one of the directors along with Tsui Hark and Chen Kaige.
The film is about the 1950 Korean War and it was originally intend to shoot in Feb. 2020 with Andrew Lau at the helm opposed to Dante Lam. They have already prepped for a long period and were postponed due to the pandemic.
The movie you’re referring to is ‘The Battle at Lake Changjin’, covered here –

While didn’t like Eddie Peng in Call of Heroes, Rise of the Legend, or Operation Mekong, I did like him in Unbeatable and want to give the guy a chance.
Even if it’s Red Sea without the guns, I’m sure I’ll enjoy this.
In the US, they can’t dub movies 🙁
“patriotic Chinese war film”
Patriotic like 95% of the Hollywood war movies by the way (even the “that’s a shitty war but let’s be friends forever and get out of this, like, shit” …or worse, craps like Three kings: yeah, we fucked the press, yes we lied to everybody, OK we killed a few hundred of those civilians Iraki civilians over a few years…but our soldiers saved a few dozens of lives in the movie so that was worth it, right ?). Apollo 13 is a patriotic movie. The postman is a patriote movie. Etc. Top gun, Rambo II and III, Rocky IV,…
They can’t dub movies AND they can’t read.
a few hundred of those
Sorry, I mean a few hundred thousand.
