    Oh yeah, bring it on!

The plot seems like a great excuse for lots of hand-to-hand with limited weapons available. And even if it turns out to be a half-ass THE RAID copy-cat, that would still mean it would likely be three times more entertaining than a lot of other current day action films!

    • Nothing wrong with being a copycat as long as you do it correctly. Heck, man… all those Bruce Lee copycats (Bruce Li, Le, Dragon Lee, etc) gave me more entertainment hours than Bruce Lee himself! 🙂

      • Kung Fu Bob says:

Yeah, exactly. ENTER THE FAT DRAGON forever!

Even outside of the genre, stuff like BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS was ripping off STAR WARS, but it was still so damn entertaining. 😀

Holy Shit!!! I can’t believe it!!! I’m excited not because I am a Cambodian but we never have any movies with this kind of production quality and martial arts skills. This is huge!!!

    • Kung Fu Bob says:

That must be cool for you.

Are you familiar with the martial art Bokator, which they will be using in the film? Were you born in Cambodia, or are you a USA-born Cambodian, brother?

I was born in Thailand camps and flew to the states at a very young age. I’m not too familiar with Bokator but from clips on youtube and such it looks similar to Muay Thai? I’m just happy to see something that looks like the Raid. That visceral hard hitting fight choreography we love in these modern action movies. Can’t wait to see it!

        • កូនត្រី says:

How can you siad Bokator is similar to Muoy Thai? Bokator is our original ancient martial art, Muoy Thai is just a copy-cat. Anyway, this movie is surprising Khmer movie industry. It was pretty good. Like you said, us Khmer has never had s.th similar to this quality. Here, moviegoer prefer comedy or horror movie than anything else. I’m glad that this was well-recieved. Hopefully, this will change filmmakers to stop producing crappy movie and do more quality ones. មោទនភាពជាខ្មែរ។

Please note that he admitted his lack of knowledge on the subject “I’m not too familiar with Bokator but from clips on youtube and such it looks similar to Muay Thai?” and certainly didn’t mean to offend with his comment. If Muay Thai is based on Bokator then it does makes sense that they look similar. I’m familiar with many styles of martial arts, but not Bokator. Are you a practitioner yourself?

Great news to hear from you that the film is good! I hope it paves the way for more action films from your country. Is the film garnering positive reactions from the local audiences? If so, it may open the doors for more martial arts productions.

        • Kung Fu Bob says:

          Ah, I see.

Yeah, me too. Not enough action films like that being made. (Not that I think it’s easy to do so!)

  3. Murikov says:

I’m looking forward to this, even though we can’t quite expect the same level as Gareth Evan’s stuff.

I certainly hope there’s more to come from Cambodia’s film industry!

I’ve been looking for Hanuman since it came out 2 years ago & cant find it anywhere to watch… Does anyone at all know how or where I can watch it living in the US?? This movie looks awesome, but I’m worried that if Hanuman never released here in the US, then I fear that this may not either.. :-/
