Director Kirill Sokolov, a Russian filmmaker best known for his hyper-violent, single-location debut thriller, Why Don’t You Just Die!, is back with They Will Kill You?
In the film, a woman (Zazie Beetz of Deadpool 2 and Joker) takes a job as a housekeeper in a NYC high-rise, unaware of the building’s history of disappearances. She soon realizes the community is shrouded in mystery.
Dare we say… They Will Kill You has some plot elements that echo not only Gareth Evans’ 2011 cult actioner The Raid, but also Chang Cheh’s 1981 Shaw Brothers thriller House of Traps, which was largely set within a fortified facility packed with layered, redundant death traps – designed to confound and kill even the most skilled martial artists.
The action for They Will Kill You is choreographed by Russ McCarroll, who is known for his work in films such as 2025’s The Rats: A Witcher Tale, The Warrior TV series (2019-2023), and 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road.
The film also stars Patricia Arquette (True Romance), Tom Felton (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Heather Graham (Boogie Nights), Myha’la (Premature), Darron Meyer (SEAL Team 8: Behind Enemy Lines), Armando Rivera (Any Day Now), Chris van Rensburg (The Fix) and Gabe Gabriel (My Spy: The Eternal City).
They Will Kill You hits theaters on March 27th. Watch the Trailer below:

I see your comparison to The Raid and House of Traps, and raise you The Doorman. 🙂
Let’s up the ante with EVERLY!
Come on, dude! This looks like what The Doorman should have been!
I am liking the Neveldine and Taylor vibes here, and after Zazie Beetz did a great job playing Domino, it’s about time that she got more action roles!
So a total of two people have watched The Doorman? lol
Well, three. ☝️
Comments on the original review also indicate there’s a 4th person who’s seen it. At this point I’m surprised we didn’t get a sequel. 🙂
20-40 bucks there. Just lying on the table. 🤦♂️
Well, this ended up being the biggest load of shit of the year so far.
It pisses me off too since i thought this was gonna be really cool. I thought this film would be influenced by the same movies as Kill Bill along with Indonesian action films and bloody comic books, but it missed the mark multiple times.
This movie is 90 minutes, yet it drags. There is so much padding in between the action scenes and no sense of urgency, and just like with Pretty Lethal, the action constantly has a “start-stop” pattern.
There’s some decent moments in the action, but there’s nothing creative in the fight choreography. And when Beetz learns that the bad guys don’t stay down for long, she’s not coming up with any ideas of how to slow them down.
Zazie Beetz’s character is supposed to be this bad-ass ex con, yet she spends too much time running away from the villains, getting her ass kicked, and allowing them to get the drop on her all the time.
She makes stupid mistakes over and over, and it undermines her character’s credibility.
I hope Marvel doesn’t take forever to make their X-Force movie, because I want Zazie Beetz to return as Domino and make up for this dreck.
