Don’t miss the new 8-minute film, Taky Kimura: The Heart of the Dragon, which follows the relationship between Taky Kimura, who was Bruce Lee’s best friend and senior most student.
The short features original footage of the Lee Jun Fan Gung Institute, which Kimura and Lee started together.
Taky Kimura: The Heart of the Dragon is produced by Indie Genius Media’s Jamil Suleman and Aaron Jacob. “When I met Taky, I was like wow, this guy’s story is just as incredible,” said Suleman. So, in 2016, Indie Genius Media started filming (via SSE).
Taky Kimura: The Heart of the Dragon tells the story of a Japanese-American who survived the incarceration camps of World War II, and went on to meet and train with the greatest martial arts legend of all time. Now 96 years old, Taky has passed down Bruce’s original teachings and the tradition of Jeet Kune Do to his son, Andy Kimura, who continues the legacy where it all started; in Seattle’s Chinatown/International District (via IGM).

I’m happy they are doing a this. Hopefully it could lead to a movie where Bruce can be mentioned (like the messenger starring Anthony Quinn) and focus on Taky’s journey.
